Double Dipping is OK
An Albertan Health Inspector phoned me last week and after conferencing with Edmonton and Calgary, they've come to the agreement that facepainters can double dip their brushes while painting the same person! (The brushes still need to be cleaned between people). She said it wasn't realistic for a painter to use 5 or more brushes with the same color paint, and not to worry about trying to sanitize your paints in between kids.
She also told me that she's heard about professional facepainters around the province who are concerned about the quality of paints being used (ie. tempera, acrylic etc) by 'volunteer painters' and this is a 'true' health and safety concern. Apparently, there's a recommendation on the table to include that painters must use true make up paint/powders.
I think these are steps in the right direction!

Thanks Judy,
Good job that they're finally going to recognize a real health concern in the craft paints!

And here I just perfected my method of working with liquid black on a palette - using by the drop and santizing the palette between people!! I've got lots of Fardel liquid black and it works well - put it in a squeeze bottle and don't use that much at a time at all.
Had my new handwash station set-up and everything too this weekend.
That's good to know Judy, and a relief too!!

Shannon, this happened BECAUSE you perfected that method! That's how it works, right? Haha.
Thanks for sharing that, Judy! I found that the most daunting rule Albertans have - I sometimes have to reload my liner brush 4-5 times.
Ditto chicneek!

Judy, when did you talk to them and to who? I talked to Andrea on Friday and she was unsure about the double dip, they were meeting that day. They were also going to bring up the use of makeup quality glitter.

Side bar- so you have strict hygiene regs, but who cares what paint you use? (not really judging because we have neither regs for hygiene or paint safety)

If you follow the regs... like we do... you are using cosmetics and meant for the purpose face painting products.
