Re: Fairy Wing Tutorial
Wow!! I love your video. Thanks for sharing!! Do you sell these at events etc??
Re: Fairy Wing Tutorial
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Metzpah for doing this it is so good to get a visual on how to. I'm more than inspired, I'm keen to give it a go. Now just need to collect a few materials.
Re: Fairy Wing Tutorial
Oh my! That was inspiring! Nice job.
Any pics of other wings you could share for color and design ideas? How much would you say you had in each pair for materials?

Re: Fairy Wing Tutorial
so cool! Im trying to convince my sister we should add these to our hairbows. She just thinks they will take too much time and effort to be cost effective. How long does it take you to do a set?
Re: Fairy Wing Tutorial

How beautiful!!! Thank you for that video, I hope my 3 year old daughter changes her mind from Spiderman to ferry for a costume this year, because I really think I'll TRY to make a pair.

Re: Fairy Wing Tutorial
Thank you all! I have sold a few but I don't feel I have the time to pump them out at the quality I want to get enough stock for an event yet.
I putter when I make them, I play with drying times for layers of paint so it can take me a few days to make them.
It is very inexpensive though. Just maybe $10 or so, give or take a few dollars depending on the quality of decorations and such.
here is a link to my wing gallery on Flickr so you can see other wings I have made too.

Wow!! You do have some beautiful work!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those wings, any of them, all of them!! It looked easy as far as the foundation, but the design twist you put on them, fantastic!! And like Shannon said, the detail! Wow chick!

Re: Fairy Wing Tutorial
Wonderful wings! Thank you for the tutorial. Now I am not young and cute so I won't pass for a fairy at a party, but maybe I can try for fairy god mother - she was older and plump. I think a new costume is brewing in my head

No but they are the easiest to paint vibrant colours, so I use them the most. I have used black, brown, grey and navy too, but I have not found any cheap knee high stocking supply in fun colours.

Sorry but I think anyone, no matter the age and cuteness, makes a wonderful fairy! I have seen incredibly beautiful fairies of all types.
I work in a costume shop too, and last Halloween I rented a blue fairy outfit to a rather large, not all that young, hairy man! okay well maybe he wasn't so beautiful, but he was enthusiastic and was having much fun

It depends on the details and the drying times for paint layers. I could make a pair anytime between a few hours/day to about a week. I have not got the process streamlined :/. I tend to take 3-4 days on average. I am sure they could be banged out way faster than that.
Re: Fairy Wing Tutorial
Those are works of art! If folks want something 'banged out way faster' they're not going to get the amazing designs and details you put in. Stunning! Really stunning!
How do you adhere the silk flowers? Is hot glue sturdy enough or do you sew them on too?
