I don't know anything about airbrushing...Is any of this done with stencils or is it freehand?

Thanks for all the kind words.
About the shields, they could be shaped pieces of plastic ,cut paper , french curves , thumbs, point of a brush handle or whatever that will shield your painting from the paint. I cut the shapes to fit my design if I don't already have something similar.This is an example of a premade shield that could be used for petal shapes.
