Wanted to do a review of this DVD because Finding Your Arty Brush DVD wasn't received very well. It seems as though they read the reviews and improved upon this one. Two huge thumbs up from me!!

Positives
* There was product demos in the beginning including really explaining the difference between arty and rainbow cakes
(really helpful to newbies!)
* They also demoed pressed powders
* There where 14 designs 5 boys, 2 nuetral, 7 girls (I hope I remember the breakdown right, sorry)
(my opinion, they are all great designs)
* The designs were clean and not layered and messy looking
* They gave useful tips through out the video including working with children & design elements
* The painter doing the design was the one talking
* Heather and Marcella took turns doing designs

Negatives
* There were times when you can't see the strokes being made, though not too bad
* There was a design that you can get "free" on there. It's the Fire Dragon but it was demoed in green
* The design that is on the oldest girl and is largest on the cover is nowhere in the DVD-however all the other ones are
* They never show exactly how to load the brush as far as water ratio, they say dip your brush in water and then show
the back and forth motion-This is just kind of a confusing thing to me as I feel I can't get that ratio right.

Neutral-Just wanted to point a few things out but can't call them negatives
* Marcella can be hard to understand at times because of her accent-I just backed it up & got it
* There was some familiar designs, but I don't know if there are any demos of them out there. It's the snake going
in and out of the hair line as if it is in a tree. And the unicorn over the eye.--Could be a positive if you don't already
know how to do these popular designs, or negative if you do.
* Silly Farm's logo is everywhere
* This is definately a follow-up DVD because it doesn't repeat certain strokes, ie the clam shell wiggle, the butterfly or the
rose.

I have the other DVD and was soo hesitant to get this one but took the plunge for one reason. I wanted to learn more about the pressed powders and I had read somewhere that they had that info in there. I am so happy I did! To me this is a great DVD with a lot of good info and was really what I was looking for with the first DVD.

Don't remember the rating(sorry) but if 10 is the absolute best ever, I would give it a 9! But could there ever be a perfect DVD? Well worth the money to me.

thanks for the review. i was contemplating getting the first dvd, but had not read any reviews on it. sounds like it was maybe not worth it. but is it worth it to have the first dvd if you plan to get the second one?

is it worth it at all for a new painter? if you every decided you want to sell yours pm me! i might buy it used.

Hey Teri! There are some reviews of the the first DVD here on the forum and most seem to all agree on the positives and negatives. It's really hard to say if I would recommend or not, just check out what is said and make a judgement call that way. I will say this, you DO NOT need the first DVD to understand or follow the second at all! Maybe that will help you. If you are limited on funds I would recommend the Follow The Rainbow over the Finding Your Arty Brush if you have to pick one or the other.

I don't plan on getting rid of the DVD cuz it does have some good stuff on there, sorry.

Hope that all helps! If you have any other questions, let me know!
