Does anyone use a Rinse Well?

I saw the face painter at Dutch Wonderland (amusement park) using it and it looked nice. I understand you only get 8-10 "changes" of water before you have to empty it and refill with fresh water. But that might be enough for a small gig? I just think it LOOKED professional, and I am wondering if it performs as well as it looks.

I think I might try it, though I can already tell it may not be ideal.

At the amusement park the Rinse Well looked clean (and professional - as though she had spent $100 or more for "specialized" FP equipment!), while her paints and sponges were well used. Without the (clean) Rinse Well her setup would have looked a little icky. I wonder if it was a new Rinse Well, or if she just cleaned it.

I think for under $20 I will give it a try (oh, and I see that Silly Farm has one now, too). I will report back...

I've looked at it at Michael's & was wondering if it'd be worth it. Right now I have 3 cups. I get the bulk of the paint off w/ the 1st, then rinse again w/ the 2nd & then the 3rd.

I used a rinse well for a couple of months, worked really well.

However kids constantly pressed the button, wasting water.

The only way to keep it presentable was by putting it into the dish washer, which meant that the valve degraded, and the water constantly emptied into the base.

After 6 weeks this had become a continual problem and it was easier to use separate containers.

I use 2 cups, one for dark colors and one for light colors

Yeah, I gave up on the one I reviewed in the thread. It's just not all that great. I really wish I could make a better version...something a little more sturdy that can hold more water, has a metal bowl, a button for the water to be let out and a button for the water to be let in. *sigh*

i ordered one a while back and am just waiting on my big box of goodies to arrive will see how I go - i don't love that it will stain but don't think that will be the end of the world as long as the water's actually clean.

I bought one this spring and the bottom gunked up and when I tried cleaning it - the thing didn't hold water afterwards. So I unscrewed the mechanism and reset it underneath. I ended up calling the company and they sent me a replacement. It has been working well for a month or so then it started leaking on my last gig. I cleaned it carefully and it seems fine now. I have to refill it for a gig thats over 3 hours long, but I like the well and how it keeps the water clean.

i bought mine from silly farm, used it a couple of times, the water was clean, but went thru lots of water.. and it leaked when pushing the button and just ran into the bottom part... played with it at home but still used lots of water...but I really think this is a good concept if someone could do a better version..

I have thought of buying one. My concern is that it wouldn't really hold enough water for me...or that kids would push the button and I might end up with a mess. I have this phobia about my water and I am changing it all the time. I have two paint cups that are pretty large. In one I put the brush bath in it. In the other I just put plain water. I use the plain water cup to wet my brushes and the brush bath one to clean my brushes with. I toss out the water when it starts to look dirty at all. I know that is not probably how most people do it. I just want people to feel like the water is clean and safe. Even though, I know that it has the antibacterial agent in it... If something looks dark from paint they associate that with dirty. So, in that aspect if the rinse well would work I think it would automatically give a sanitary feeling to the customers.

I have a rinse well and I don't use it anymore. I used it for about a month before i started getting frustrated with it. Its nice concept but then the paint starts to stain the base area. Maybe Im to picky about my brushes or i rinse them super well or something but I seem to run through water. It works well but I think you would be back to cups in a 2 months time.... I was.

Its a great concept but I agree with most of the other folks it needs to be revised or updated and improved.

I did find that if I used hot water to start it seem to help more... that maybe have been my imagination.

I ALWAYS use warm water anyway, rather than cold

I used one for a couple of months, then binned it.

If you use wolfe/paradise black the only way to clean it is in a dishwasher (nothing else works) which discolours the plastic & weakens the valve.

I was constantly having to refill it as kids kept pressing the button to watch it work, and once you use your black the colour lingers in the well part.

Once the valve starts to weaken it empties into the base in seconds. So you then have to empty 2 pints of water into another container, before you can use it again. Went back to a sport bottle and 2/3 small bowls .

It looks lovely but is a real p/i/a to work with.

I used one when I first started and had the same problems, staining and not enough water, hard to clean, tips easily. I prefer the two bowl method at this moment, one to clean and one to rinse.
It's still hard to keep up if you have a lot of people in line.
