Moving business half way accross the country!!!!

Has anyone ever done this before. My husband is military and I am facing my first move since I opened my business. Any pointers????

Do you have regulars? Send them a note when you know for sure when and where you'll be going and let them know you'll miss them but appreciate their business. Also maybe putting it on your website so people know?

Maybe start looking in your new area to see how many painters are there? Restaurants nearby? Attractions? Get the word out that you are on your way, maybe by the time you get there, you can have some meetings about regular gigs.

I was a military brat, so I feel your pain, good luck and I agree to search the net and start checking out your competition as well as the going service rates. Also, change your address ahead of time so your site starts showing up in your new area, maybe you'll start booking gigs before you even get there.

Don't forget to tell your insurance of the change in address

I am facing the same thing, though my husband will be going ahead of us so that my son can finish out his senior year here.
The area we are heading to has a ton of face painters, so I am not sure if it would be best to set up my own shop as well or contact face painters already established and see if they need any additional painters.
I guess I have a few months to figure it all out.

We did the military thing for 20 years & I tried other home businesses & it was tough restarting. But these were catalog parties & mainly built through friends. I wish I'd known about face painting back then. I bet it restarts a lot easier than selling catalog junk:-)
