Mehron Metallic Powder
Just wondering if anyone has experience with this? Used with the mixing medium, the colours look gorgeous, but wondering if they're as pretty and shiny as they appear?
thanks!
thanks!
Re: Mehron Metallic Powder
I have the gold, and yes it gives a wonderful coverage, almost like gold leaf, it's what's used to make the golden statue/ buddah full body paints.
I don't use it for face painting as I find mixing it up time consuming, but there is no reason you couldn't mix up some and put it in your kit in it's own little container.
I also mixed a very runny version and put it through the airbrush....shhhhhh don't think I was supposed to do that, but I figured why not... looked awesome compared to the gold tattoo ink.
I don't know if they are worth buying unless you have a specific gig in mind for them.

I have gold and bronze, and they are beautiful! You don't necessarily have to use mixing medium. I have used some of the gold sprinkled on activated Wolf aztec gold, and it was lovely. To have the "dipped in gold" look, you can mix it with baby oil, but it doesn't dry (suitable for photo shoots and modeling).
All of the Mehron powders are amazing with the mixing medium, though. I want them all.

Re: Mehron Metallic Powder
cool guys, thanks - it's not as expensive as I'd imagined so might try a couple of colours out... mostly just to use on people when I've got more time. In your experience will it sit vividly over wolfe black/DFX or does it really need to be put on bare skin to show up well?
Re: Mehron Metallic Powder
DO NOT PREMIX!!! You need to mix it as you need it... The bottles will "explode" if you store it mixed!

Well, Nick Herrera (sorry if I butchered his last name) did this one. I believe he said he used baby oil and Mehron gold powder (I feel so worldly and name-droppery, but he was in line in front of us for pictures and everyone gathered around to ask about his work, lol). They were a pair of models, the design was simple and stunning. And the models really knew their stuff in posing. (the first one couldn't see through the goggles)

Thanks Shannon, I presume I can mix up a little and use it over the space of a few hours if not 'stored' as such?Shannon Fennell wrote:DO NOT PREMIX!!! You need to mix it as you need it... The bottles will "explode" if you store it mixed!
Re: Mehron Metallic Powder
I mixed up some and it was in my kit for over 12 hours, and it was hot, it didn't explode - but maybe I was just lucky.
Just as well Shannon's here to tell you my advice is bogus!

Can I just mix a bit of each into my snaz gold & silver to sparkle it up?

Re: Mehron Metallic Powder
Oh yeah, just adding to your cakes is fine.
But if you want to use it liquid - mixing liquid and the Mehron powder, you need to only do as much as you need. It will be okay for a short time in a bottle, BUT, it will not keep - there is some sort of reaction that will cause the bottle to rupture ... many a body/face artist has had a mess to clean up in their kit

Re: Mehron Metallic Powder
It's not that shiny with the mixing liquid, or with metallic paint mixed in, but it's still very nice.wow!...that is indeed very very shiny gold!
Re: Mehron Metallic Powder
Love this do we know if the shop will have some. Or should I search online for them!
Re: Mehron Metallic Powder
bronze with oil and some dry silver sprinkled on
gold with oil
gold with oil and dry silver sprinkeld on
of course they can't touch anything, it transfers due to the oil
gold and silver with normal mixer - shininess not like with oil, but Ok - looks better in flash pics than real life.
Also depends on how smooth skin is
Bt is fab with normal mixer, very 'fixed' and doesn't need retouching if done well but still easy to wash off
as Shannon said DON't store it - it goes off and loses its look - think omething evaporates
Can also use it dry as a powder:
BTW I use Mehron or Graftobian - VERY similar tho the mixers are different so I use the one to match the powder.

Re: Mehron Metallic Powder
You had told us about the move in the intro you did, I think anyway... but the no electricity thing keeps playing back in my head. I can look around, and there's a lot here that I could live without... electricity is one that I would really rather keep around. And plumbing!
Will you be there for a while, or off to another adventure?
