Post by CATZ Sun Jun 20, 2010 1:34 am

I just did my first 'Fiona' gig today. My 7 year old daughter came to help me because 'Shrek' went fishing with our 5 year old. They wanted Shrek, but he wasn't into it and they weren't going to pay any extra. I was paid extra for me to be in costume/makeup. I painted my daughter as 'Puss n Boots'. I even got a $30 tip.

It was a nice day and I had 2 hours to paint about 12 faces, so it was a nice pace too. I used Starblend powders for my base and it felt great. I used yellow first and then the green on top so it wouldn't be too dark. I did some simple white detailing for face paint flourish. I was impressed how well it stood up all day. It stood up better than Puss n Boots Very Happy Any tips on removing 'Starblends powder'? It definitely takes more work than the Snaz.

We went to a Scandinavian festival after the party and were a big hit. People kept stopping us to take photos with us. I wasn't thinking when I went into the 'Viking Village' dressed like an ogre that maybe that wouldn't be a good idea! They are 'real' vikings through the SCA and they take their roles very seriously. My daughter was a little freaked out when they came at me with axes and swords. It was all in fun and I gave it back to them with 'warrior' stances etc. I know many of the vikings so it was all for show.

Shrek didn't catch any fish...they had one on the line, but it got away because they were distracted playing patty cake. LOL They both had a blast though.

I have nothing against the SCA. I love you I love that they are so thorough and authentic. They actually helped build the viking ship I had my wedding photos on. First paid 'Shrek' (well, 'Fiona') gig Ship-s10

It sounds like so much fun! I love your Fiona!

Yes, Starblends hold up very well.
I use Cetaphil Facial Cleanser for gentle skin to remove Starblend and all paint. It won't irritate your skin or eyes like the perfumes from kid shampoo & still has the tear free element. It may take several washings, but it will come off. If your skin is stained or if you have green pores, use moisturizer for 30 minutes & rewash. The moisturiser pulls the paint out of the pores(I have areas on my face where this is an issue). This is also an awesome cleanser for daily use & very inexpensive. You can get it at Walmart or any drug store in the make-up, facial cleanser section.

Huh! That's the second time I'd heard about Cetaphil in two days. Yesterday my friend mentioned it as a lice remedy. Her daughter's friend came over to her house and it was discovered she had lice (ick!). Anyway Cetaphil is apparently a great way to get rid of the buggers. They're getting a resistance to the standard stuff they sell at the pharmacy. I'm just glad my daughter missed that playdate!

I have a cleanser that worked well on the Starblends, I was just hoping I might be doing something wrong and there'd be an easier way. The Snazaroo comes off so easily, I was just being a little lazy Very Happy

Thanks,
CATZ

Wow, I didn't know it could kill lice(we've thankfully missed a few "lice' play dates also... yuck). I've heard that they're getting resistant to the rid, etc. OK, I'm getting itchy just thinking about it.
