FX Neon Magenta. "Not intended for cosmetic application" Wha???
So I got my new neon Magenta cake. It looks awesome. As I'm taking it out of its case to put in my pallets, I notice this on the back of it.
"For hair and special effects. Not intended for cosmetic application."
I'm very confused!I haven't noticed this on the back of my other neon cakes. What's up with this?

I think it has to do with the fact that anything that is UV reactive / Black light reactive had not been approved for use around the eyes.
I think even with eyeshadows they have to put this type of disclaimer on it.

There is a lot of glitter that have that kind of warning. Even if the commercials for is use it around the eyes..

I am not sure although I wouldn't put it on lips. I painted myself yesterday and put it as a lip stick and it left a really awful taste in my mouth and I kind of felt sick after that... I think just the yucky taste didn't make me feel too good... I have used it for a full face spider girl though on my daughter and she had no complaints... hmmm, not sure.

It must be a Dayglo color. Dayglo is different than regular Neon, as it actually appears to glo in sunlight as well as under blacklight. Certain neon pigments have been approved for cosmetic use on skin, but dayglo colors require an added ingredient to take them from being just neon to the dayglo status. The added dayglo pigment ingredients are not approved for cosmetic use on skin. They are approved only for use on hair and over special FX applications. This could simply be because they have not undergone the testing for skin use, but at any rate, there are no dayglo colors that I am aware of that are currently approved as skin safe for cosmetic applications.

The OLD kryolan liquid UV colours used to have that warning too... It is due to the UV pigments not being FDA complaint for cosmetic use...
