Super Glue Accident Empty Super Glue Accident

Post by Clayton Sun Mar 14, 2010 3:09 am

Okay. so I broke my glasses and I super glued the frames cuz if I wait a few more weeks I get new ones free. Well, the came undone and when I tried to reglue them it came out like gangbusters all over my hands and all over the lenses, not to mention my laptop. Hand are fine as is laptop, but my glasses... Not so much.

Anybody knows what takes it off plastic? I can't use the cheap one from walgreens. I am nearsighted with astigmatism. I am trying to laugh about this... But... It's really not going to be funny next weekend when I have to paint.

Any ideas? I have tried baby oil and alcohol. While it makes them clear and I can actually still see... It looks really "ghetto" for lack of a better word.

Man... What a week.

Aww - what a bummer. I don't have any suggestions to offer, just sympathy. No I always keep my old glasses whenever I get new ones, so that if something happens I can fall back on the old ones. Guess you're not a hoarder like me.

Hope someone else has ideas.

Kat I love you

Call your eye care physician on Monday and ask them what they recommend. Usually, they will tell you what will take it off.
Also, I know that this may seem strange, but try yahoo answers. You would be surprised what great answers people on there can give.

The only thing that I know of is nail polish remover, which does help with plastics because it will eat plastic. Other than that, scrapping it off..........

You might try using lighter fluid to remove it .....it removes most adhesives and doesn't damage plastic.
Unfortunately, super glue actually melts plastic, so even if you can get it off, your glass will probably be pretty damaged underneath.
