Hello from the Silicon Valley!
Greetings friends,
I'm new to professional FP, just setting up shop and getting the legal stuff in order. Happened on this forum by accident but I have been amazed at the caring, supportive and encouraging community of artist I found. Lookng forward to any advice you might have for a newbie just getting their feet wet. Especially about contracts and insurance.
All the best,
~momo moon

Re: Hello from the Silicon Valley!
welcome to the forum momo moon.
best advice i have is start small with supplies you really like (face paint colors, essential brush shapes like round and angled flat, glitter, a few stencils, etc).
you can and will add as you realize what you need/want.
also practice designs that you can do well - a simple flawless design is better than a busy, kind of sloppy design.
if you are face painting regularly for clients, have clear contracts and have insurance.

Re: Hello from the Silicon Valley!
Good advice jilrie. We've all been, shall I say, a little over-eager buying when we first start out. (Sometimes that habit is hard to break!). I watched Lisa Joy Young on Youtube at 1st. Her advice on how to start your business, setting a goal of 10-12 faces/hour (don't worry, do PRACTICE), when you need insurance & her face painting tutorials are awesome. Then I found this forum. It is, by far, the best reference material. To me, it's like the encyclopedia for face painters!
