PLEASE HELP...Cannot figure out how to use stencils
Hello,
I am really frustrated and hoping that someone can help me. I just got a lot of stencils and I cannot use them. Everytime I try to the stencils the water to paint ratio is wrong. I use a 4 inch spritz bottle and mostly global paints, a few wolfe ones. I spritz the sponge 1 -3 times and either the paint won't come onto the sponge enough or it gets too watery and runs underneath the stencil when I apply it.I' ve also tried to just spritz the paint and not the sponge 1 -2 times and I have the same results. Could anyone tell me how many times you spritz your sponge or paint. I would truly appreciate any help.
Thank you,
Snazzy

Re: PLEASE HELP...Cannot figure out how to use stencils
My suggestion is this: Lightly spritz your cake or your sponge just once, then swirl the sponge around on the top of the cake until it becomes sticky. If it's too dry, repeat the process. Do this until you get "the feel" for it, and then you should be good. Always use less water than you think you need, because you can always add a little more, but you can't remove the excess.
Here is a link to a video, and it shows the process around the 9 minute mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M2dkX0-3cU

The finger daubers are much easier to use than a regular sponge--if you keep them on the dryer side.
You can also use starblends instead of face paint & an eyeshadow brush from the $ store. Be sure to blow on it to remove excess dust before. starting...

Inre to classic painting through a stencil - I am guessing you want to add texture on top of a base of face paint. I like to use a blending brush - much like a kabuki brush but with much shorter bristles. One you load the brush it is a good idea to dry off the brush on a washcloth before stenciling. if your using a traditional face painting sponge, even a dauber this practice of drying the brush will help.
