Since everyone has their own style and capabilities, sometimes people prefer to make teardrops from the skinny end to the thick end and sometimes people prefer to start thick and end thin. Maybe trying the other way will help you. :-)

There is a Marcel Murad (Mama Clown) YouTube video on Line Work.  It is an excellent guide toward your practice.  It shows the two different ways that Kris5115 is guiding you toward.
Happy Painting!

some other things to consider, too -

the brand of face paint - some are better than others for details like teardrops.

how wet the paint is - too runny and teardrops could be blobby or actually drip, too dry and the teardrop will have rough edges and break up at the end.

the quality of the brush - you want a brush with the bristles smooth to a point at the end, that holds its shape as you paint.

your speed - if you make your teardrop stroke too slowly, it may end up more wiggly, because there is more time to make a mistake.
if you make the stroke fairly quickly, you get the advantage of momentum, the brush is moving and there is less time for it to veer off course.

jlirie pointed out a truth I totally forgot about.
Face paints are either Wax-Based, or Glycerin-Based.

Wax-Based face paints are much better for line work.

Glycerin-Based face paints are great for bases.

Wax-Based: TAG, DF/X, Global, Cameleon, Wolfe

Glycerin-Based: FAB, Snazeroo, Kryolan, Mehron's Paradise
