Wolfe vs DFX??? Help Empty Wolfe vs DFX??? Help

Post by Clayton Sat Feb 20, 2010 6:22 pm

Are Wolfe and DFX paints the same? They come in nearly identical containers and I have been told the consistency is very similar. I need to put in a new order; mostly to replace my metallic colors and was thinking about DFX this time instead of Wolfe.

Can anyone tell me how well DFX paints blend? I was told that most wolfe colors don't blend well, which is why I have stayed from most of them. I like their metallic and their white, but I don't use anything else. Also, their white. I like that wolfe white goes over most colors, but it is very hard to get good points on markings. I don't have an issue with this in black (I use paradise black) but it's difficult to get good points with wolfe white.

Any advice would be appreciated.

They are the same paint made in the same factory with the same paint base. DFX has no perfume and you get 32 grams in the cakes and only 30 with the Wolfe.

They do not blend as well as say paradise, but I still love them for their intensity.

Thank you. I thought they looked similar. I LOVE Wolfe gold and metallic blue. I guess I'll just have to learn the trick to working with the white. I hate that... Black markings always come out so much more crisp and sharp. LOL

Yep as said, them and TAG and VIPMUA all the same basically, a few differences in available colours too.
Blending is easy once you have the hang, its just slightly different to snazaroo etc...same with Kryolan, thats often different from blending these 1st 2 types as well.

What is the problem you have with the white?

TBH I don't use it for bases as wolfe/ dfx over a lot of the face is more uncomfortable than other brands. Plus more expensive...

PLUS unless you use wolfe/ DFX colours over the white its hard for them to cope!
So I stick to Grimas/ paradise white for bases and wolfe white for line work only...

I have a hard time getting my teardrops and other markings to come to a fine point. I don't have that problem with black; just when I'm using wolfe white.

Hmmm, that sounds more like technique/ getting used to the paint...Wink Not a problem i have ever heard of with it before, its the brand for perfect white lineworks etc usually.

I tried something new this weekend. I changed up the amount of water I put in and it seemed to help.
