I lost my shark! help

After not painting full time, I have found the lack of practice has really cut into my work. One I used a lot was the shark and dolphin and now when I try them well its just bad. There is some major step I am missing. Would you please be so kind as to help me out and share yours. It's some what of an old design and I'm having trouble finding it on line.

I like the eye sharks, with the mouth around the eye. do a Google search, lots of versions.

this one is actually my favorite, because of the colors, though the technique is a bit rough.

Here are the shark and dolphin that my daughter and I did at our last event.  They are simple but the kids loved them. Not as much as rainbow tiger but nothing seems to get as much love as rainbow tiger.
