Hello from Palm Springs!
Hello everyone!
I've been lurking the forum for a few weeks now (can't tell you how much I've learned from all of your experiences!) and decided to finally just make my own account and start posting.
I started with a history in the fine arts, moved to digital media (because all my college professors said that that was were the money/jobs were- boy were they wrong! And it's a shark tank!) and was finally seduced by a makeup course I accidentally registered for. I've been doing makeup and body-painting for theater, television, print, etc for about 4 years now. Last year a body-painting job led me to a face-painting job and I realized that if I ever wanted to turn makeup from my side job into my day-job, this was a great way to do it! Things really slow down in the Coachella Valley during the summer months once all the snowbirds fly home, and film crews and photo-shoots come to the desert only rarely (and if they do, they bring their own makeup artist or contract with the MacPro store). But everyone has birthdays year round, and there are tons of children's events, church events, and community events that I can take advantage of with face painting!
My goal is to improve the quality of my face painting enough that I will feel comfortable charging what I feel is a good price and that will represent professional facepainters accurately. (I currently undercharge my work because... I'm just weird and never feel that my art is good enough)
