Wow that's huuuuuge! I've been tentatively looking at gun cases, and after measuring my car, hit a wall! I've been finding that most of the ones with wheels are 51-53 inches, and the 40 inch ones don't have wheels! SADFACE.

Tried to convince my partner to buy me a truck to accommodate a huge gun case, no dice. Input from gun case owners would be well appreciated: how long is yours? Is the length appreciated, or a nuisance?

It's 135cm or 53 inches long and 35cm or 13 inches wide and 11cm or 4 inches deep.
I've been compacting my kit in preparation.

Lots of car seats fold down & you can load that way instead of across...

I've seen a few Guitar Cases Mellygee911 that are wider in width and shorter on the length that should fit into most hatchbacks and saloons. You just need to screw the fixed castors to one end and a case handle to the other end.

Thanks for the suggestions you guys! I had never even thought of laying my car seat down... But why not?! I could still fit a couple of other people in the car!

I found a gun case I like that's 36 x 15 x 5, but I'm worried that will be too short... I suppose I'll keep looking around!

That's just a small bit narrower then mine.
Lay you kit out on the table within those measurements and see how it fits. Take into account what you can put inside the lid also. That's how I was able to judge the size of mine before I bought it.

One thing I discovered, (since you've not purchased yet)is that if it has seams & joints, they will eventually separate. My pelican has held beautifully for years now.
(And if a clasp or wheel ever breaks, all I have to do is walk in to someplace that carries it--no receipt necessary, & swap.) The original outlay is more, but IMHO well worth it--having redone my case 3x until I got this one.

I had a narrower one at first and like the wider one way better. If I could go back and do it again (which I just may) I would get a wider case that isn't as long so it's easier to carry through doors and such. I may in the near future attach wheels to the case I'm currently using and a handle at the top.

My case is an ice fishing pole case that is 36 x 12 x 5 which is smaller than a gun or guitar case but fits nicely on a table and isn't too big.
