Elite FPF Shop Sale... Help me out! Empty Elite FPF Shop Sale... Help me out!

Post by Mellygee911 Sat Mar 22, 2014 8:02 am

Hey everyone! I sent support an email, but haven't gotten a response, so I'm just a little anxious to place my order and am wondering how exactly this works!

Is the percentage "rebate" truly a rebate? As in you pay the full price, and then get money back later? I ask because on this large of an order, paying our Canadian exchange rate on say, $1000, $200 of which I would expect to get back, I would still lose the exchange from the $200 I was rebated.

So, is this a true rebate, or is there a code I enter, or is the discount automatically applied? Would my credit card be charged for the full $1000, or just $800?

Second question: shipping costs! Since $6 flat rate does not apply, is there any way to calculate my actual shipping costs?

Thanks in advance!

Dear Mellygee911:
Metina subtracts the amount from your total so your credit card is only charged $800 instead of $1,000.
There is no code.
It is automatic.
I have my paint sent to my relative's home in Detroit and I go pick it up when I visit. I declare it at the border and I have never been charged for customs, duty or brokerage fees this way.
You would have to know the weight/size of your package in order to calculate your shipping costs. Metina packages the orders with love, care and common sense. Items are nested inside each other and compacted down to a reasonable size.

Happy Painting!

You are a true blessing Lisa! Thank you SO much! It's great to know I won't be paying the full amount on my credit card... Our exchange rate is crap right now Sad

Do you generally stay a few nights, or just pop over for a few hours and still not pay duty? I guised my last pickup as prom dress shopping for my youngest sister, and avoided paying duty by only claiming the dress... But I would hate to be searched and have a bunch ton of paint seized!

Thanks again, that was really so helpful!!

I always declare the paint at the border. I bring my whole kit with me to practice and to fit my new purchases into my kit.

I am usually there for three or four days to help my Mom give my Aunt a break as a care minder for my grandmother. It takes two of us to do what my aunt does on her own.

Well... I did it! I made my order (with two other local painters!) and am just counting the days until I can hop the border and get my new paints!

I can't wait to get my hands on my TAG one stroke palette, and BAM stencils! I've got two short gigs this weekend, and I so wish I had all my new paint RIGHT NOW!

New problem: I've spent my paint allowance, and just discovered all the amazing guitar/gun/DJ cases out there y'all use for your kits! And here I thought I had cleared out my wishlist pretty good! #facepaintproblems

yes I love how metina packages everything Smile I'm always shocked at how my orders fit so neatly in that itty bitty box!!!

and it usually ships super fast too!

what a hassle to have to go over the boarder, but wow, sounds like it saves a ton of money too. enjoy Smile

Considering shipping would likely be in the $30-$70+ range, and with $1000 in paint (I combined orders with another painter!) we would be paying $130 in duty, and anywhere up to 50% the value of the order in "brokerage fees"!! The terror of not knowing exactly how much the bill on your doorstep will be is something I will never repeat again.

I once bought a vinyl wall embellishment for $120, paid $20 shipping, and it landed on my doorstep with an $80 bill for "Brokerage fees". I paid almost twice the value of the item just to get it here!

SO... my MIL makes frequent shopping trips over the boarder to buy clothing for her kids. I tag along, and she's kind enough to refuse any money for gas and hotel rooms, because she would have been going anyway!

I save a pile, but wait until I explode!!

On the downside, I'm afraid that Metina did charge the full amount and then refund my order, meaning I'll be losing money in the exchange of that extra $200 dollars on and then off of my credit card. Depending on the exchange rate of the day, it'll probably only be about $40, but in the future I would prefer just the discounted amount be charged.

Actually It is charged the full amount because the discount is AFTER actual shipping and insurance is added.

I know this can be a bummer, but our thoughts were to charge then refund once it is all figured and we didn't really consider how exchange rates work. If you would like to do this in the future, add a note and we will do our best.

Sorry for the trouble. -Metina

It is still waaaay cheaper than purchasing in Canada, and shipping in Canada.

True! Please don't take this a huge whining sesh! Maybe just a suggestion for future Canadian customers! Overall, I'm thrilled with my experience and SO excited to be picking up my order this weekend.

Really, I didn't mean to come across as ungrateful!
