Quick removal theatrical makeup?
We have an Easter production coming up and I have some questions.....
Last year, I used my Paradise because it needed to come off quickly for the next scene....it worked really well....I had him moisturize the week prior and he had baby wipes, soap and water to wash it off.....
This year, there is a new helper who knows about Theatrical makeup from school and says she has Ben Nye....she says it is water-based grease and comes off quickly and won't sweat.......I told her he won't be wearing it long enough for him to sweat anyway....
Is there such a thing?
I have been face painting for 5 years and never heard of it......

Re: Quick removal theatrical makeup?
Yes, but I don't think it will come off quickly enough for the next scene.
I'm doing all if the theatrical makeup from the neckline down with theatrical makeup that will be dry under his robe, and anything on his face will be liquid. Last year I made theatrical blood with Karo syrup and food coloring. We put it in a squirt bottle to be applied right in the scene, before the cross was lifted.
Inside the tomb, we had coolers filled with hot, soapy water and towels to wash him down quickly before putting on his resurrection costume.
It went really well.

Re: Quick removal theatrical makeup?
"water based grease"...? No such thing. It is either water-based or oil-based (which is "grease")
Ben Nye has several lines - but none that fit her description. Magicake are their cake water activated line (face paint), they have the Lumiere pressed powders, also Lumiere oil based and the rest of the lines are oil based.
Ask her to demonstrate her product for you. What she considers easy to remove may not match what you think it should be.

water-based grease paint......
she must be confused.
I'm giggling, imagining how many times she has called it a water based grease paint.
I'm sure it is probably a water activated cake makeup, and maybe she is saying "grease paint" to put it in laymens terms just in case you did not know there are other things available beyond grease paint.
that being said, paradise is super easy to remove...maybe you should insist on turning her on to it.
