Art Kit on sale @ Michaels
" />
I thought I would share this with you. I found this expandable art kit at Michaels. It retails for $50, but is on sale right not for $30. I am taking out all the art supplies and relining the trays with black vinyl. Very compact and holds quite a bit. Closed it's about the size of a laptop case. Trays are about 3/4" deep.

I remember reading somewhere that another painter had done this, and was really pleased with the result!
Re: Art Kit on sale @ Michaels
JUST made a special trip to Michael's (and braved an oh-so-long line!) just to purchase this, because you posted it. So THANK YOU!!! I've wanted a case like this for a long while. It's pretty nice, and looks professional, and will be great on gigs where I go to paint adults, etc.

Re: Art Kit on sale @ Michaels
I have a wooden one that is very similar...I use it for a birthday party kit..I think with a coupon it was 24.00. It fits paints very well. Has the same trays and I love it for small parties...It has become my grab and go.
Re: Art Kit on sale @ Michaels
I tried that case, it just didn't work for me (I take way too much stuff). Fatmax is best for me and I use a Crop in Style Stamp Store Rolling Tote for my grab and go... I really like the tray compartments. The whole thing just slides out and you can sit it on a table easily. The top of tote has enough room for brushwell, wipes, water & ect. Hope it works great for you ReRe! and that is definately a deal. I love Michaels when they have those 50% off coupons.
Re: Art Kit on sale @ Michaels
I have a fatmax but after using it a couple of time is now my face paint supplies storage and only use it for events where I won't have a table so I can work from it. For the rest of the gigs I have been using this rolling cart. Everything fits nicely.

I've used my new Michael's kit for two events now and it has worked great for easy access to everything I need. What I really like is it's very convenient when I want to practice at home.
After I pulled the plastic trays out that held the art supplies, I spray painted the insides black and use heavy duty velco to attach my paints. Gave it a very professional and clean look.

cool idea! glad it works for you. My daughter says nothing ever makes me happy... I've changed bags, totes, gun case, fatmax so many times... I just can't find what fits all my needs for everything. I'm a one purse woman (and a tiny one at that)... so I figure my face painting supplies should be too lol
Re: Art Kit on sale @ Michaels
Maybe when the new of face painting wears off I will be able to condense down like you Maggie... would surely be lighter load.

Rere, Why didn't I think about spray painting the inside of the case, arggggg! I bought black foam sheets and when I got home I couldn't get the huge stickers off it so I took them back and got black duct tape. I have a party tomorrow, after my party I will take tape off and paint, paint, paint
Novice Tammy, when I first started I bought it all lol funny that this rolling cart was the 1st thing I bought to carry my supplies and I am back using it and find it prefect!
In this case I carry my michaels art case, you can't see but there are splits and rainbow cakes on the right side top tray, I carry my brush holder with brushes inside, a gallon of water, my rinse cups, 2 black towels, baby wipes, glitter poorer and pots of glitter, q-tips, spray bottle and sponges. I'm sure I am missing stuff lol

I also use a black plastic Stanley two piece toolbox on wheels that I got at Walmart for less than $25.00. The bottom is open and can hold all the larger items like water bottle, baby wipes, mirrors, photobook, paper towels, tablecloth and my extra brushes and sponges. The top piece holds extra paints, water cups, glitter/gem box, terry cloth towel, plastic trays and business cards. I'm amazed at how much I have been able to trim down what I was taking using this setup. Now if I'm outdoors, that's a whole different story.
