Painting bald heads for Alopecia kids/adults
Has anybody had any experience in painting bald heads? I am painting an an Alopecia event where they will be taking off their wigs and celebrating no hair. My mind is stuck on wreath/flower type designs and I can't think outside the square! Would love any ideas!

Flowers crowns for women, no problem, I think is more difficult for men, but I have seen hero logos, brains, eyes and faces.
Re: Painting bald heads for Alopecia kids/adults
I painted a lady's bald last year. The woman had been going through chemotherapy. She was in our tent with her two children, and it was raining hard. There was nobody else so I offered to paint her head. She said she had never had her head painted before. She closed her eyes and said, "This FEELS so GOOD." When I painted, I knew I did not want to replace her hairline, I wanted to create something beautiful. Something happened to me. It was as if I was not there. There was magic running out of my shoulder, down my arm, into my hand and out of the paint brush. When I finished making a garland of flowers, with trailing vines and glitter and jewels and ribbons, it looked so amazing. It did not look like I painted it. That design was painted with pure love.
Paint with love.
Um, I know that isn't the kind of practical advice you were looking for. There are lots of face painters on this Forum way more articulate than I am.

That's so beautiful Fessy. She must have been thrilled, and you obviously were. She was a lucky lady to find herself in your tent on that rainy day last year. Did you get any pics?
Re: Painting bald heads for Alopecia kids/adults
Dear veelux:
I did not get any pictures.
I rarely think of taking pictures when I am painting. A lot of my work on my website is either pictures of work I did on my own family, or pictures that parents have sent back to me and allow me to use on my website. I keep forgetting about taking pictures. My grandfather was a photographer. My little sister loves to take pictures. My sister-in-law takes awesome pictures. My uncle did take pictures of some of the zombies I did for the Zombikathon on Sunday October 20th in the Florida Keys. I am down here in the Keys for Fantasy Fest.

Fessy, the advice to "paint with love" is about as articulate as a person can get. No words needed. When you are creating like that, the love energy of the cosmos is being channeled directly through you without any personal impedance. It's the best kind of anything.

Thanks, I hope it works that way Ill just have to lose the nerves and go with the flow. Reminds me of when you get the freedom to look at outfits and just start painting to bring out the best in people rather than focusing on the actual design picture. They always have good results too

Re: Painting bald heads for Alopecia kids/adults
I had a big guy with a totally bald head once and he said "you're the artist, design whatever you want". So I thought about it, the way his big forehead just went into that big bald head and I thought what a great canvas for a fabulous tribal design! So I did his upper forehead and onto his head with a great all black tribal design. I just designed it as I went along, making it bigger and bigger using techniques I learned in the best tribal video I ever saw. Really helped me to learn how to make my own tribal designs. He LOVED it!!!! Wish I had taken a pic! Below is the video to learn an easy way to design tribal, It's by "Sparkling Faces":

another fun halloween type design...how about using silver and doing the top of forehead and skull with cyborg/robot design (simple. I like to draw a red line around it, then black and some red for blood, like the head's ripped open. Boys love it, maybe girls too!!!
Re: Painting bald heads for Alopecia kids/adults
Tina's right, tribals are popular for men.
I cracked an egg on top of the shaved marketing director for "Eggland" & it worked well.
8 balls get a bit trite, but guys like them & they are simple/fast.
