First try with bellypainting
Yesterday I took a course bellypainting, and we practised two designs.
It didn't go that bad, and I just wanted to show you what I made.
Now let's hope to get clients soon!

Is it that bad that nobody responds? oh well, the next ones will be better, probably!

Hi Ella!
Haven't been on the forum for almost a week and just came across these.
They are very cute! I especially like the giraffe!

They are realy cool, What I am nosy about is what did you use as practise belly.
Is this a ball or balloon?...

Re: First try with bellypainting
an inflatable beach ball
But the material of the ball is not glossy ( like with pictures, you can choose glossy or..... (Not glossy, don't know how you would call that)....) but of a more rough material..... I will put a picture of it, after I cleaned the ball...
At this point I don't want to wash off the ball yet, still enjoying my work

Re: First try with bellypainting
Thanks for the picture! do not wash it off just for me!! I've already got an idea how it works.
I've been thinking about how I could practice before I bother the pregnant women.

Re: First try with bellypainting
Just so simple thus, just get a beach ball that isn't glossy! lol
Is way cheaper than a practise body!

Re: First try with bellypainting
I prefer the giraffe too. The giraffe was done with an example on paper, and the bear was done at 'freestyle'
Re: First try with bellypainting
The Teddy was cute, but I loved the giraffe. How did you do the outline? It looked really good. I just did my 1st baby bump. It was OK, but I had painted all day in the FL heat & humidity & was wiped out. My friend is having a c-section Thursday & came over to let me try my hand @ painting her belly. It didn't take too long, after discussing colors & themes, but I usually do beautiful small or side butterflies. The ones I did that day were NOT my best. She was happy, tho. Now I know, I should have practiced first!!!!!! That beach ball is a great idea. Thanks for sharing.

Re: First try with bellypainting
Well, I wouldn't have thought of it myself, but with the course I did last Sunday at Studio Joli, we practiced on the beachballs there, and we were allowed to take the ball home with us, so that we can use it again for practice, after it is cleaned....
Re: First try with bellypainting
Sorry, what exactly do you mean by outline? Not sure what you are referring to?Affordable Face Magic wrote:The Teddy was cute, but I loved the giraffe. How did you do the outline?
Re: First try with bellypainting
The border on the giraffe looks like it might be a stencil? I meant to do dots around mine, as in one large, followed by 4 small dots...all the way around in white. FORGOT!!!
Re: First try with bellypainting
Oh that! Yes, those blocks are done with the help of a stencil indeed!
I used Bam Stencil Diamonds

Re: First try with bellypainting
Ella, thanks for sharing all that about the "non shiny" ball! What a great idea for those of us itching to try out belly painting!

Re: First try with bellypainting
Well, it is itching here as well, so I have cleaned the beachball, and saw it does stain with darkblue and black a little....
And made a New design on it yesterday!

Very pretty, Ella! I'm just going to have to get a beach ball to try it out! as I see no real bellies on the horizon!

Re: First try with bellypainting
Indeed Valerie, why not using a beachball, when there are no pregnant bellies at sight (yet)?
It is an awesome way to still be keeping busy with being creative.... You can use the ball for facedesigns too, or cheek Art, just basicly for anything you want to practise.
Keep the flow going, right?

Re: First try with bellypainting
Yesterday I took a look at the studio Joli page and immediately wanted to book a course. But unfortunately it is a bit too far away. I need to see if someone offers it in Austria, which I do not think so. Belly painting is not very well known in our area. My mother is a midwife and she believes that here too the pregnant women might like it.
I havn´t found a beachball like yours yet.

Re: First try with bellypainting
Well, that could be a hole in the market there for you!!! Might be booming business!
I would not know where to get it, as it was a gift.... but I haven't really looked into it either, where it is sold....
perhaps google on printable beachballs or beachball with your logo.... (in your native language)

Re: First try with bellypainting
Felt creative today, but no round bellies around, so took the ball again...
Made something with a theme...
Not to happy with the bear though, especially the legs...
