excellently done judy. don't give up on flowers, around here they are in high demand
Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
Judy, I think your roses are beautiful. I wish mine looked so realistic.
Well done girl!

Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
Thanks for going easy on me.... I thought about just glueing some fake roses to my head and calling it a day... but didn't think that would count! lol
Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
Gee... I did a SBS painting of an Inukshuk with the Aurora, AND a polar bear... and the polar ice... a couple months ago (one of the ones I was considering sending into American Face Painter for the International Issue... ended up not sending it)
I know I'm not tagged.... but I'll share it AFTER Magna puts up hers.
No pressure or anything...

Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
OK...here it is...an inukshuk and the northern lights. I've only seen the northern lights in person once in Prince George while visiting there. The inukshuk is the symbol of the winter olympics this year here in Vancouver. It is a symbol of friendship and working together. Hope I didn't disappoint Shannon!
The question now is...do I wash my face before I pick my daughter up for school or go like this?

Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
Oops! I forgot the glitter!!
And I forgot I have to tag someone else...how about Kristal of Surrey (you know who you are) to paint something about the winter Olympics since that's what we're going through right now here in Beautiful BC

Nice... Nice...Nice job Magna. You've captured the beauty and wonder of Aurora Borealis for sure!!
P.S. I'd be putting that pic on your website/display board -it's a keeper!
BTW, we get to see them often as out in flat Alberta country we don't have the light pollution as in the cities nor the mountains/hills. I could watch them for hours!

Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
Ahaha Challenge Accepted! give me a bit to figure something out...although at this point, I think I'd be perfectly happy doing absolutely nothing besides watching the Olympics all day...
Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
Gorgeous!! You really got the lights beautifully! Did you really get to see red ones? They are so rare. We saw red once here in 2003 I think - amazing. The whole sky was red with some white in a halo at the top of the sphere of the sky... looked sort of like a huge angle hovering over us. Usually we get the greenish swirls.
My painting of the Inukshuk is actually posted on my blog - I put it there on the Dec 10th post.

Another great one Shannon...... how the heck do you paint on the left side of your face? My hand gets in the way and I can't see what I'm doing!
Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
Thanks everyone. I totally 'made up' the northern lights design. I can't remember the colours of the one I saw in person, I think it was more greens and white. It was cool anyway.
For this design I used a rainbow cake of teal, turquoise, purple and pink in vertical stripes on a background of snaz black and inferenze electric blue and some grey. I added some white on the rainbow to give the impression of light streaks.
I did go to pick up my daughter at school like that! I forced my 4 year old in the chair so I wasn't alone. I bribed her with candy, but she said 'I've had enough sugar'...candy bribes don't work the day after valentines! I wanted to try one of Vi's masks but she was not being very patitent and I used the wrong brush. I used the same rainbow cake I'd used on me. I eventually got her in and painted so we could go together all done up. I got some positive feedback for sure. It's funny how some people though just pretend they don't notice. We're so Canadian

Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
The Aurora is simply beautiful and looks like it belongs on a canvas!
What is an Inukshuk?
What is an Inukshuk?
Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
The Inukshuk is the stone man... the Inuit used them as trail markers, and basically to indicate "we were here" throughout the Arctic because there aren't any trees to make signs with and no spraypaint, so they piled up rocks instead!

Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
It's also a symbol of friendship and working together (the rocks piled up support one another).
The vikings did a similar thing as markers that tell a story with stones carved called 'runes'. You find them all throughout Scandinavia. I have a 'rubbing' of one of them painted and hanging in my living room. The Northwestcoast first nations people have 'totems' that symbolize events in their families.

Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
I really love this -the way you captured the lights is amazing.
Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
I'm sorry I've been so bunk - it's been madness and I haven't had a chance to sit and paint yet. Hopefully I'll get something painted and posted by early next week - I'll be on it, soon as I can!
Re: TAG, Your it. A Fun Game for All!
...it's like I killed the thread! Or at least maimed it.
At long last, I have finished!
Maybe it's because I'm in the thick of the Olympics - flag-capes everywhere (which are amazing!), crazy crowds, and impromptu renditions of O Canada at any given moment - that I found it a bit hard to think of anything 'Winter Olympic' related as opposed to 'Team Canada' stuff, haha.
One of my favourite things overall is how after the medal ceremonies (most/all of the ones I've seen, anyway), whomever the gold medal winner is, invites his/her fellow medal winners up on the centre of the podium with them - I love that. Yes, it's about sport and competition and ultimately, the win, but it's also sharing what you love to do, and the relationships that stem from that - IMO, anyway! Our motto seemed to fit in, too.
At any rate, here it is
FYI: Snaz white/sky blue/turquoise/brown, DFX light blue/white/black, Kryolan beige/Intf gold/bronze, a dab of silver Liquid Bling + sponge, Round 0/1/2/4, 1/2" rake
