Re-pot one strokes?
I've bought some tag one stroke paints, and I like the actual paints, but they seem to get soupy on the sides and the edge colors get messy. I was thinking about re-posting them in wider containers so that the extra water has a place to go, instead of building up on the sides. Does any one do this? Is it a bad idea?

Re: Re-pot one strokes?
I have long thought about solving this and haven't gotten around to it yet. I also think it would be easier to apply even pressure with the sponges this way.
I think it is a brilliant idea, and since it is your idea, I hereby declare you brilliant!
I will try it.

Don't call me brilliant yet! I have a small box that office supplies came in, I might use that to give it a try.

Re: Re-pot one strokes?
What I'm thinking now is to take the narrow one-strokes and re-pot them into the wider (as in, rainbow cake) rectangular cases. This way, the paint is still being housed in the same kind of plastic.

Re: Re-pot one strokes?
A few words of caution about putting one strokes in wider containers; The paint will spread/widen and it can affect the way the colors combination loads onto your brush. Also, when it spreads the outer colors like to push up against the sides of the wider container. I'm not sure if this is making sense.... but maybe you get the gist of what I'm trying to convey...?
Re: Re-pot one strokes?
Here's a video from Susan Billings where she pushes a little channel into her one-strokes to even out the color and leave somewhere for the water to go...

But honestly, now that I do better water control, I don't have that issue nearly as much. I do get buildup on the edges because I tend to use smaller brushes but not muddy anymore.

Re: Re-pot one strokes?
Thanks for the tips. My main thing is that when I do snakes, the narrow rainbows, etc., the middle gets a valley and the ends get hills. Thanks to one of your videos, Denise, I learned a while ago from you how to have better water control. This was a huge help THANKS. What I've really always fantasized about (no, Miss Ronnie, this does not constitute the bulk or the best of my fantasies!! ) is what if the narrow one-strokes could come in containers without the short ends? It would be a many-colored strip of paint and there would be long plastic sides on the container to hold it all together. But there would be no plastic at either end, so when your brush swipes across it, you could begin the swipe before contacting the paint, and end with the brush taking off like an airplane. Does this make sense? That way, you'd avoid making that inner depression (inner depression is a bad thing in life) in the middle part.
I've considered making a container like this to try.
But then I've also considered lots of things, like chucking it all and moving to a remote island in the South Pacific and living off coconut juice and writing poetry by the sea all day.
I wonder which I'll do first ...

Thanks, Denise. I think I'll work on water control before I try anything else. Thanks for the video. Do you typically use one strokes or rainbow cakes?
