Where do you find Cinco De Mayo gigs?

Hi All,

Does anyone do any Cinco De Mayo gigs? I've been looking on the internet and in my newspaper for events, but not finding many, although I know they must be around. Can anyone who does them shed some light on places where a face painter might be used? And is it just your regular faces, or themed in some way? Thanks!!! :-)

Mexican restaurants and street festivals are where you could look. I'm doing one but they knew me from a previous event I had done at their Mexican Restaurant. I'm doing a little of both on the designs.

What about the club at the Newburgh waterfront that you did St Patricks at? How did that go by the way?

Dude! I was just there over Christmas!! I so wish I had known! I'll keep it in mind next time I go up. We won't be there this year, unless there's a family emergency.
Man! That will make my trip so much more worth it!

Rebecca.....I missed my chances for Cinco De Mayo, lol. Lots of those Newburgh Waterfront places are adults, not children, I didn't think I would do well there. I keep a file and sometimes I save the paper from this year, so I can contact the festivals or restaurants earlier NEXT year. Usually, by the time they list all the places, it's too late to get in, but next year I'll start early. BTW, that St. Patty's Day gig was the best I ever did!!!!! It was further up, in Poughkeepsie, not at Newburgh. I have a thread about it somewhere. Plus they asked me to do it every year there, they were very happy with my work!!! :-)

Diane - I'm in Middletown, which is maybe 1/2 hr. from Wallkill. When you come up here, I'll certainly meet you too! Maybe we can all have a lunch out! When you visit, just go on my website to get my phone # or message me privately for it! Would be a lot of fun to all get together :-)

Oh, I think a pub would be the best place for Cinco de Mayo painting!

I have a friend who is running a different 5K every month this year and they are *always* themed. I think it would be fun to paint for one of those. For Cinco de Mayo they all seemed to have chili peppers on their cheeks, sombreros and mustachios! Fun stuff and perfect for freehand glittering.

I made some cinco de mayo designs an hour before my gig. Not good practice, I had been swamped all week. Anyway, as I was making them I was thinking no one was going to get them because it's rare that people get the day's theme designs (except St.Patty's Day). But, this Cinco I got loads of day related requests from the adults.

Cinco de mayo is a drinking holiday and the adults who are drinking love to get face painted... from my experience anyway.
But, in general I've noticed more and more adults wanting to get face painted. I have a hard time saying no when I have to go, but I need to do it.
