Working with a photographer Empty Working with a photographer

Post by rthling Thu Mar 21, 2013 12:49 pm

Posted this on FB, but wanted to get help on here, too.

Whoa! Thanks to the lovely Whitney Myers, I got up the nerve to call a photographer about working together to offer pregnancy packages of express bellies and photos. He wants to meet!!
Now, what's a good pitch to throw that would be beneficial to both of us? He's the one with the photography studio. I'd have to paint there. I want photos (unmarked) and some of the cut. But how much?? Sheesh! I gotta pitch it in the morning!!

I have sex to get me out of trouble with the principal.

OK, onto serious things...

What about just being straight up about what you want, and ask him what he's looking for out of the deal, and then working it out together? Since it sounds like a new venture for both of you, I'm sure it wouldn't seem odd to him to work it out together.

I figured that, Lisa.... Hehehehe!

Christina, he's not looking for much of anything. I am the one who contacted him. I want to find an opportunity to make some money doing belly painting. It makes sense to have it go hand-in-hand with photography.
I'd also like some pro shots for my website.
Basically, I'm going to offer to be an add-on to any of his prenatal packages and see where that gets me.

Don't feel locked into a photographer. I had this GREAT idea and wanted a photographer- etc. It went no where fast. Now I feel like I am the one with the unique skill- there are lots of people with fancy cameras. I have my favorites, but whenever I meet a new one- I say "I love working with photographers- I do little girl fairy paints, maternity, fun family shoots, senior pictures (our mascot here is a tiger) and some more artistic body painting. If you ever have project you would like me at . . . ) or something less wordy. Point is- having lots of photographers is like having lots of venues. It is a good thing, in my opinion.
