How to make a Magnetic case...
Hello. I made this how-to for some ladies on Facebook so I thought I'd share it here too. I made new magnetic cases this weekend and here are the instructions...
The cases can be found at: http://www.jewelrydisplay.com/browse.cfm/e-cnb2-economy-2-cover-tray/4,2231.html#.URr_bFpoTRc

Re: How to make a Magnetic case...
Out of curiosity, are you able to close your case and transport it with the paint on both sides on the inside?
Re: How to make a Magnetic case...
Yep, it's 1" deep on both sides. Even the mid sized Wolfe/DFX pots fit.
Re: How to make a Magnetic case...
So much cooler than my double sided sticky tape version, which is not very alterable
Re: How to make a Magnetic case...
I love it! I may have to buy those cases too! I got one from Sillyfarm a while back, and they just feel too small and flimsy . I was thinking about using velcro, but I love the magnetic idea so much better, that way, if you take a paint pot out to hold it, you don't have the other side of the velcro showing!
Re: How to make a Magnetic case...
I've been using magnetic cases for over two years now and love it. My old cases were made from cheap wooden kids art supply cases and one broke so I decided to make nicer ones with these jewelry cases. I love it because clean up is super fast and little grabby hands aren't expecting my paints to resist when they try to grab them!
Re: How to make a Magnetic case...
This will be my next project, thanks for sharing. I am using velcro at the moment and I hate how the little black fuzzy bits get everywhere.
Re: How to make a Magnetic case...
Jody, I've been singing the praises of my magnetic case for years, (though with 2 kids, I'm far t0o busy to do a step by step like Amanda.) Next time we meet up I'll be sure to show you mine. (that sounds dirty for some reason...)
I posted about it here My Magnetic Setup a couple of years ago and every now and then the discussion comes up again.

Lady Jayde is the one who turned me on to the magic of magnets... she's my inspiration.
I just happened to be making some new cases this past weekend so I wanted to document it. Every once in a while I like to justify my obsession with DIY projects by sharing them with everyone else.

Re: How to make a Magnetic case...
Next time though I won't make my tutorial image so skinny that it's impossible to see when the forum shrinks it down! Sorry bout that!
Re: How to make a Magnetic case...
LOL ,CJ you are so funny! I remember the thread, I believe you enjoy the clicking sound the magnets make if I remember correctly. I have just been lazy and never tried it but seeing how easy Amanda makes it look I need to give it a go.
Re: How to make a Magnetic case...
Yes...the clicking...
There are days when I need a respite from the kids and hubby...and house.
I go to my little craft/sewing/painting room, open my case up, pick up a pot of paint...and then put it back down...and then pick it back up ... and then put it back down... and then pick it back up... well, you get the gist.'
There's restorative powers in the clicks of magnets on metal... it's kind of scary when you get a really strong magnet and it literally JUMPS out of your hand when you come close to the metal...I reserve that for days when I wish I were more adventurous...

Re: How to make a Magnetic case...
Amanda, That is an amazing amount of research you did to make up that case and then share all that info so openly and with the step by step too. I never have an original idea, and just copy other peoples ideas. I will copy this idea too, and I'll send them to this forum to see your step by step. Thank you
How many different things did you try before getting to this end product? How did you come up with it? How much time did you spend from your first attempt, until you got to this amazing last case? How much money did you spend until you got to this last one?
Thank you for all the work that you did, and all the time and money you spent developing this great case so we don't have to do all that work.

That's the cheek I wish I still had...or at least the proportion of cheek I WISH I still had! My 2013 cheek would eat that one as an appetizer...

Re: How to make a Magnetic case...
I made two magnetic cases: one for my rainbow and solid cakes and a small one for my one strokes. I LOVE them! Thank you for such a great idea!
