Homeland Security Emergency Alerts For Computers/Java
Hi All
Homeland Security has issued an emergency alert. Please do this now. Updat your computer and all devices that use Java, re a potential virus that affects security password for identity theft and poss overtaking of networks to crash them.
For computers go into your Control Panel and click on the Java icon. Click Update.
Update to Java 7 update 11.
Many devices use Java - smartphones, blackberries, kindles - update your systems, we updated our TV's that use Java because they are connected to the internet.
Do this now.
Sweet Loretta

Loretta, where did you learn of this? I am dubious because Java updates have been used for scam sites that will deliver Trojans and malware.

Re: Homeland Security Emergency Alerts For Computers/Java
it was on abc news on saturday or sunday, I did my laptop, do Iphones use java?
Re: Homeland Security Emergency Alerts For Computers/Java
No, MAC products do not use Java but Androids, Blackberries, Kindles and such devices do. As do some TV's and gaming consoles.
We had to update 7 computers at our house, one phone and one TV!
As noted it was on the news. I just skimmed it but Homeland Security last week advised people to disable Java, hackers advantage. Homeland Security then learned there was a potential virus that would attack to steal password, create identity theft and crash networks. Since Java is also on ATMs, traffic signals and many computer run "things" when the threat was learned they issued and emergency alert.
My husband's firm is the main anthrax clean-up environmental firm in the USA. The home office is in Virginia. My husband has had offices on air force bases, and he has several big contracts on air bases. So their IT guy is very diligent. My husband texted me part of the Homeland alert memo, and said do all the computers 'now'. My PC laptop had already updated on its own, but all our other devices had to be turned on and updated.
