Gem Addict...
So my Hubby tells me I need to cool it on the paint buying.. Understandable I have only had a few paying gigs since October.. So What do I do I start hoarding gems. What can I say I learned to scavenge the 25 cent baskets at Micheals and managed to come up with almost 40$ worth at a quarter a piece you can only imagine the lot that I have!!1 Now I think he is considering a ban from craft stores lol as if that could happen. In the mean time I did fashion my own apron it is drying now check out my FB to tell me what you think.. I got the Ideal from one on sillyfarm but this seriosly cost less than 10 to make and theirs is 50$ any who just thought I would rant a while.

Re: Gem Addict...
thats so funny, while waiting for my delayed shipment, I bought a LB of gems, and am now in the middle of sorting to 28 compartments, in 4 containers, lol
Re: Gem Addict...
Wow haha!! I haven't bought any gems yet! (Shocker I know), but I've been thinking about gems more and more and I might pick up some before painting again tomorrow!
Question for everyone, do you all buy gems that already have the adhesive on them or do you all buy regular gems? Any tutorials on applying gems? I wouldn't want it to come off because of the paint!

That pound of gems will keep you busy for a while, Nina. I got one, too.

Same story with the paint- some parents worried it'll come off to soon, others stressed it won't come off. I usually go with gems already with adhesive, and then slip and extra one or two to mom, explaining if her daughter plays hard and they come off . . . here you go. They usually really like that and the cost is minimal to me (especially if they tip me:) )
Re: Gem Addict...
I always use eyelash glue to adhere gems, whether or not they are self-adhesive. I put it on the back of the gem and let it dry a bit, then press it on to dry paint or skin.

Re: Gem Addict...
I apply with body glue or eyelash glue, I hate the ones I accidentally bought that have the sticky dot thing on the back I will have to peel those off tank goodness there were only a few like that.
Re: Gem Addict...
Mehron makes a glue called Addagem that is nice. Check out Marcela's designs or look at Facebook, there is a page devoted to gem designs by Lilly Walters Schermerhorn, called Jewel Junkies. She has a great book too. https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/433403880012256/?fref=ts
Re: Gem Addict...
I use gems meant for scrap-booking over paint.
I buy them cheap and on sale and then cut them up into adorable clusters.
http://www.facepaintforum.com/t13399-cheap-gem-clusters
I always place them over paint and have no need to add additional adhesive
they have great staying power and haven't had a problem with them falling off, causing allergies or other irritations.
I myself have VERY sensitive skin.
In fact, the wolfe paint often makes my face break out if I wear it too long or too often.
I have worn these gems for 12 hours straight, for 3 days straight. without the slightest problem.
I am very certain that the paint adds more than enough of a barrier between unwanted glue and your face.
So I peal and stick. Takes me seconds to add some majorly awesome bling.

Re: Gem Addict...
did you make the apron out of denim? or did you buy it and decorate it?
Looks great!
Looks great!
Re: Gem Addict...
Pre made from Jo anns, I was going to make it but the material alone cost more... I got this denim one premade for 4.99 and used a 40% coupon so it was really in expensive.
