How do you use a poofer bottle?

I tried a poofer bottle for glitter this weekend. At home was able to use it on my arm ok but while at a gig the 1st try missed and floated down and landed on her lap. 2nd try put a circle of glitter condensed on one spot. One poof had nothing coming out. Is there a trick to using poofer bottles? Thanks.

I had the same problem at first. Someone told me to just layer the glitter while still wet....works good. I also found it helps if they lean their head back.... I also keep a fine water mister to redampen if I forget to add glitter while it's wet.

I ruined a very nice design with one 'poof'....
Now I don't poof anymore, but tap one the back of the bottle!
Works great!

that is how i use them too, I do not poof, just hold tem upside down above the spot where I want the glitter and I tap. A mist of glitter then falls exactly where i want it ---love the poofer bottles!

It's like you read my mind, Leslie. I received some free Christmas glitter poofers with a recent order and when I used them on Tuesday they all went "Splatz" in one big splatty pile. I have never had that problem with a poofer bottle before.... I still use the same bottle of white fairy dust for a year now and that poofs on very evenly. Maybe it's the bottles?

Could it be the size of the glitters? I have noticed that some of mine "poof" better than others...

Larger glitter will not poof good. My chunky fairy dust is useless in a poofer so I save that for pots and tap it on with my finger.

I've learned to make the child tilt her/his head back and I poof it out about 6-8 inches above the face. If you are too close to the design, it will come out in a big bunch in one spot. You want it to sprinkle out like pixie dust

"Head back, stick your chin out, Close your eyes and mouth, hold your breath, here comes the fairy dust.... ok, you can breathe." I say that a million times, lol. if it goes on heavily I tell them to bend over at the waist, shake their head, bat their eyelashes a few times, and then sit up. I hold my poofer bottle a few inches from the face and 'POOF" it randomly. the others I use a dampened q-tip to pick up the glitter and then roll or dot it on the design area.

In addition to poof size, I think bottles have a lot to do with it. All the Momma Clown glitter I've tried doesn't poof well in the bottle it comes in but does poof in other bottles I've purchased. I LOVE the 1oz poof bottles that Metina sells, and iridescent pearl white is my go-to all-over glitter of choice:

A one once bottle lasts me over a year - and I'm a dedicated poofer for face painting (though I prefer pots of glitter and a small brush for tatts).

I had the same larger bottle of White Fairy Dust for over a year, too....for the life of me, I don't remember where I purchased it from. But I ordered the same size a few months back (again, I wish I could remember from where) and the new bottle poofs on in a big "splat".

I ended up putting the new glitter in the old bottle because the old bottle still distributes the glitter evenly.

Miss Ronnie...I just placed a Silly Farm order and got those FREE 4 mini poofer Mama Clowns . Were those the ones you're talking about? I tried them, the hole is too big or something, too much glitter comes out. I like the glitter and bottles Metina carries, they seem to work perfect.

Erica, they were from the black friday and cyber monday sales I also opted for the glitters. I guess I'm just use to using momma clown glitters because I can use the little ones fine. I've got a holographic gold and silver minis from last Christmas, too.

Ah, I see lol. I did save $5 with a coupon code and got free shipping so I am happy! Can't wait to get my order..I got my order from Metina Saturday and haven't even had a chance to use them...maybe today I can play!

I use the small TAG poofer bottles and the bottle tips are sealed so I need to use a pin to pierce a hole in the end. Is this what you all do too? Do you find a big hole or small hole works better? I'm still trying to hang of the poofer technique!
Or if I need it in a particular spot, ill screw the lid off so I can dip my fingertip in it
