I've searched the forum and couldn't find an answer to my question, is the practice skin that face painters use the same as the tatoo practice skin?

I think it is the same.

Having said that...
I use sheets of colored foam to practice on. It is much cheaper than tattoo practice skin. Yes, the black stains like crazy. I used it to do up a quick sheet of eye designs for potential clients for Fantasy Fest.

I just ordered some tatoo practice sheets off ebay, $6.00 for 5 sheets (free shipping). They'll work either way, buy just wasn't sure if they're the same since they're so much cheaper than the practice skin we can order from the face paint websites. Thanks for the input!

I have the ones off eBay, they are much smaller and thinner but work just fine. I bought a blank neon pink sheet from lowes, that is meant to be for signs and I like it better because it's bigger and I don't need to clean it off as often.
