I need y'alls advise again

so i meet this dude who did a shirt for me for advertising, he gave my name to another guy whos daughter is having a 15 next year, he wants me to go "all out" on a sugar skull design. i was thinking of taking it down the neck a bit..should i charge my hourly party rate or less?

I'm fairly new, but I think I'd charge based upon my regular hourly rate. I guess it would be the same as painting a private face around Halloween time. I think some people mentioned some charges on that. It would also depend on if she's coming to YOU or if you're traveling to her. Good luck with your fun job!!!

PS - if it's for one of those Spanish 15 parties - lots of time they hire makeup artists, cause the parties are so fancy, which are not cheap either. Since she's having a face painting, I would make sure it's profitable. Also, you might think of some fixative to set it? (on other threads), so she looks nice for her party all night?

ok..im super nevervous..this is what i want and then something awesome pops up and i FREAK OUT i always fee like im charging too much!

oh well its just for her invitation pictures! there is a photoshoot involved
my work will be professionally photographed!!

if she came to me, I would charge $15-$20 for a fancy sugar skull... If I had to go to her, I might charge $50 for the extra hassle of traveling and setting up there.

With this one, I would say TAKE YOU TIME- when you get used to cranking out faces (how fast can you paint- ah no breaks!!!) Painting for a photo shoot can be totally different. Step back and look at your work, then go back in there and add more layers, this is lasting, enjoy it! here is one I did for halloween, got the idea for the neck I think from someone on here that ringed the neck with roses on a tiger (amazing, wish I could give credit to the right artist)
