I was just checking the paper online and this was posted WHILE I was checking out stuff... it will be in tomorrow's paper.

As is typical... the reporter got some things wrong, some things backwards and some of the quotes aren't what I remember saying (but he did have a recorder on, I think) ... In the paper... yet again... Confused

He took the photo of me painting mom... mom's head is floating in space and I'm sucking my face... OMG that is not flattering!! In the paper... yet again... Icon_silent

Article was great!
If you want the press to 'get it rite' from your viewpoint, I found that having copies of your press release in your kit will come in handy with usable info, so the journalist will 'get it rite' each time, with their own slant of course ; )

Congrats Sharon!
Great article.
LOVE the witch face photo...........Your style completely ROCKS!!

BTW...........I thought it was a great photo (at least you weren't making the "Mad Face" like I do sometimes when I paint.)

Looks good! I know what you mean, these reporters aren't the greatest photographers. The always get my profile(which I HATE).

Has anyone every considered sending out a press release or contacting the press before a big event to help hipe you and the event. I am considering this or even sending in an article after the fact with some "good" photos and hope they use it as filler. It does happen.

The page won't load for me =( Yay for being in the paper, though! I hope to be one day... in a town as small as mine I'm surprised I haven't, yet!

My brother's girlfriend was taking pictures at my last gig and I discovered I get this expression on my face while I'm painting... like, I AM SO INTENSE AND IN THE ZONE, DO NOT POKE ME OR I MAY ATTACK! Laughing

The reason the reporter came is that I contacted the editor about what I was doing.

I GAVE him a press kit - which included a Fact Sheet covering the reason for the interview which was Living Canvas and my new book release... it also included my resume, information about me, a CD with photos and links to all relevant material.... AND it included upcoming events this month (none of which were mentioned.)

I really pity public figures... I can tell by how MY comments get mangled or misinterpreted or taken out of context how awful it must be for people in public office who need to talk to the press daily... no wonder they have whole buildings full of staff to deal with the media!!

I do love the faces we make while we paint, though. My husband really enjoys catching me in the middle of some good ones. I have a small compilation of 3 in my gallery, but you can't see it right now.

I feel for you Shannon. At least mine is broadcasted by choice! Embarassed
