Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
They ask you to bring a teal paint... I don't have one that I have been happy with. Any recommendations?
Re: Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
Paradise teal is beautiful. But it stains.
But it is so pretty I don't care. Haha!

Re: Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
Just went through my "back stock" and I have a beautiful Kryolan teal - I think I'm set.
Re: Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
They only have you use the tiniest bit of teal for this workshop (as an accent for a heart accented with tribal designs) so don't bother worrying about the exact color of teal... it really is inconsequential.
Re: Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
I wondered about that! teal is a very pretty accent color... hmmm....
Thank you!
Thank you!
Re: Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
You won't believe how very little of it you'll be using...
Re: Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
This color is just beautiful - it's like metallic. It's TAG Pearl Green. It looks different on some of the websites - I thought it was much lighter and different from the sellers. But it's beautiful anyway. My photo is pretty accurate in the color

Re: Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
Doe, I'm going to this class in November, let me know how it goes??
Re: Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
Of course! There are already some reviews on the board. Seems like the general consensus is... it's a great class! I'm going to the Seattle area class on November 7.
Re: Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
Vegas on the 13th of November, Hes here now with a 4 day airbrush course.. Havent attempted that stuff yet...lol
Re: Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
They say you need to bring a specific colour for ONE highlight?
Honestly... really???
I mean, I have every colour known to man in my "collection" ... but if you are limited in your kit, why not just bring what you have and substitute?

Re: Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
The supply list doesn't actually tell us what we'll be using them on... ;-) Since they really aren't asking for much to be brought, I wasn't sure whether to pack/bring all my colors or not... but, there is a 2 hour jam after the workshop, so I may just bring it all anyway!
THINGS TO BRING:
Black Paint for Linework (Wolfe FX or Diamond FX is suggested)
Black Paint for Blending (Paradise or Kryolan Black is suggested)
Red, White, Yellow and Teal Face Paint (Any Brand)
#2 Round Brush
#3 Round Brush
#4 Round Brush
1 Sponge
Baby Wipes & Water Cup
Camera, Extra Card & Extra Camera Batteries
Pen & Paper
Practice Head (if you have one - not a requirement)

Okay, that's not so bad! Everything except the teal being things MOST would have. I'd just take green myself! LOL

I actually got the Kryolan Teal I have from Pashur at a class I took from him. I like it because it's the only teal that doesn't stain! It also makes great zombies
Re: Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
Dearest Doe,
We never used our sponges at all for our tribal workshop... but we didn't have a 2 hour jam afterward, either. I am assuming the jam will still be tribal, so stick with the list that they gave you. The yellow, red and teal really are used so minimally that it doesn't matter at all what brand! What matters is good brushes that can make crisp lines (essential for tribal), a good black (for me, that can only be Wolfe), Paradise black - not even necessary for this class, but it's good to have in your kit for shading with a wash (I have the small refill size for this purpose only.) I barely even used my practice head during the class.... a lot of the strokes you do right on your own arm. A notebook is needed for notes and you will be painting strokes directly in the notebook.
Hope this helps!

Re: Teal paint for Pashur/Jay tribal workshop?
Glad everyone enjoyed the workshop.
Depending on how fast the class goes, when we have extra time, Jay does a sponge tribal demo - thus why we ask people to bring a sponge.
The Teal... what a huge mountain people seemed to have made over this. In the class we mention if you don't have teal, use another color such as light blue or lime green - however - I think the Teal is very important for the class demo. It shows how with just a small touch of teal, you can add pop to basic designs - with EVERY design you create. Small touch = big results.

Pashur -
That is a wickedly wonderful avatar.
From a posing standpoint I absolutely love the crossed paint brushes.
