If you are NOT including face painting, then what ARE you including? Without knowing what services you are providing for $50/hr it would be hard to judge whether that is a fair rate. A 2 hr limit or a 2 hr minimum? Those are opposite things. When I started out, I was only charging $50/hr because I hadn't gained the skill level that I felt comfortable with yet. Then it was $75/hr up until VERY recently, where I have finally started charging $100/hr for face painting, balloons and glitter tattoos. It is a combination of location, skill level, speed, etc. that determines what to charge. There are expenses that need to be covered, but if you feel that your expenses are not being covered to your satisfaction, then raise your prices. If you feel that your market is looking for higher priced services, then raise your prices. If you feel that your skill level warrants it, then raise your prices. This is your business and you are in charge.

I think what she meant is you have to compare apples to apples and not oranges. Check and see if they are offering painting and glitter tattoos or if you are priced too low basically.
Glitter tattoos are about 20 to 30 per hour no matter what so I wouldn't think someone could really out do you by that much so if they are only offering GT's then you probably should raise your rates and that would give you an excuse to up your selection?
