halloween makeup
Hi there,
I saw some halloween make-up kits on sale at Rite Aide last night I've also seen them at the Spirit Halloween store. They were kits for designs such as an ice queen, pirate, and a fantasy princesss. I didn't recognize name of the manufacturer. Would these be worth getting to try or are they not worth it?
Thanks!
Katy

Re: halloween makeup
Chances are they are crap. Halloween brings out all the cheap, crappy kits from China... Read the fine print on the packages - does it have a bunch of warnings?
You are honestly better off using eye and lip liner pencils, eye shadows and cosmetics from the drugstore... there are lots of cool colour out there. Liner pencils are just regular make-up in a pencil, you can draw with them, blend them with sponges and set with powders.

Re: halloween makeup
I went in a Halloween store (Halloween Warehouse) and yeah- non-recognizable brands. I asked a clerk if they were FDA-compliant, and she was just like, "Um, I don't know...maybe? I didn't know they had to be? I assume they're fine." I smiled and nodded. And left. No purchase. I wouldn't chance it. If you want a specific little design kit like that Metina has some Snaz ones on the Forum shop for $5. But if you already have paints, all the kits are is a few colors grouped together, nothing more (I think, correct me if I'm wrong!). I think they are more for people who really just want to do a specific design on not too many people...
Re: halloween makeup
I was impressed when I went to Spirit Halloween, though, and saw Wolfe Bros kits amongst the crappy paints. The single face ones. I'd never seen them in a store before, only on their website. I hope they sell well, so they keep stocking them.
Re: halloween makeup
thanks! That's what I was worried about! Glad I didn't get them!

Re: halloween makeup
Don't buy anything you don't recognize. Still look though.
I found Mehron liquids at the Spirit Halloween store this year. It was a great find! I bought three of the glow in the dark, one white and one black. I priced them against the online store and was surprised that the price was the same. I just saved on shipping.
I have already used up one glow in the dark and am very pleesed with the results.

Re: halloween makeup
Don't mess with those Halloween only crap-tastic kits. They suck. Get some real paint with a recognizable brand. You're way better off.
Re: halloween makeup
great! thanks everyone - so just to recap the most widely respected/used brands are (in no particular order)
wolfe bros
snaz
paradiase/mehron

Re: halloween makeup
I know I am a bit out of the loop as I do 99% of my shopping online (easiest with a 4 and 5yo!) but what is Spirit Halloween? A store in the mall?

Re: halloween makeup
Spirit Halloween is an online store that sells Halloween stuff (haunted house level) to anyone. Halloween Express is a pop up company that opens retail shops throughtout the US at the end of September and most of October. I am a fan of the online store but must say, Halloween Express's prices in the pop-up stores are very high. No returns. That is why I was so surprised to find the Melhon liquid paint there. It never hurts to look.

Re: halloween makeup
we have several Spirit Halloween stores that opened up in the old Circuit City buildings in the Philadelphia area -I'm assuming they have short term leases much like Halloween Express.

Re: halloween makeup
Some Party City & now, michaels art & craft and target stores carry Snazaroo kits. I have all snaz on my pallet and rainbow boxes.
And Metina sells Snaz & the kits in her store - free shipping ; )
