Superstar Paint Scents?
I'm a bit confused - that's actually pretty normal, but I'm specifically confused about paints right now.
I just got a new order in of Superstar paints, which are FAB under a different name. Opening them and having a play (everyone does that, right?) I noticed that certain ones have a perfumey scent whereas most of them just smell paint-ish.
It seems those with a white and blue sticker label (lilac, milk chocolate in my stash) smell like my granny. Or a really insistent Mary Kay lady. You get the idea. The others which have the clear labelling (actually printed onto the clear container)...well, the gold smells slightly appetising, which is a tad worrying, but otherwise nothing major.
Is one labelling style indicative of a newer formulation, or what? Anyone got any inside information??
A Very Curious Kammy xx
P.S. Facepaint sniffing. It's the new craze, man.

Re: Superstar Paint Scents?
Lots of people hate the smell (I actually like it) that's why they started to make them less/not perfumed any more!
At least: that's what I heard!

Re: Superstar Paint Scents?
They have an odor, pretty strong. I havent left the lids off to help off-set it though. When I open my paint case with the Fab paints it is pretty strong.
Note to self:: remove lids from Fab paints for a couple days to "air out"

Re: Superstar Paint Scents?
Ahh, that explains a bit. Perhaps most of my stock is the "new" less perfumed type, and I've got a couple of the older more scented ones.
Thanks for the info!

Re: Superstar Paint Scents?
LOL @ insistent Mary Kay lady.
I didn't get any 'new' formulation ones. They all smell like scented drawer liners to me. It really gets up my nose, but it's obviously a personal preference thing because I love Kryolan and my husband says the smell of Kryolan gives him a headache.
Or is that just so I won't practice on him?

Re: Superstar Paint Scents?
Some boys tell me, than kryolan colors smells ugly for them.
Girls havent problems.
But I dost use it from 2010, this is photo of my face and body. I paint my face with kryolan + snazaroo colors.
Past washing and maybe 4 hour latter.
Doctor dotn know if it was reaction on colors or antibiotics medicaments (but I use medicament last 1 week than this painting).
I dont use kryolan because it is not smell good for me too.
Too much strong perfumed - put tears in my eye.
A have food and some cosmetic (if it was perfumed) and medicaments allergy. Headache or swelling of the tongue or mouth. Or ... skin problems - nettle-rash.
I never have the same reaction when I used only Snazaroo or Eulenspiegel colors.

Re: Superstar Paint Scents?
Ow that is a Nasty reaction. I guess no matter which brand you use, someone will eventually be allergic.
Re: Superstar Paint Scents?
Ouch Seekorka - that's a nasty reaction. Guess you won't be letting any Kryolan touch your face for the next while.
And PaintedFaces - my other half won't let me practice on him at ALL. He just refuses to be painted. However, our little boy begged him to let me paint Daddy as a kitten, and got a promise in agreement. I'm bloody well holding him to it, and a kitten he will be!

Re: Superstar Paint Scents?
Kammy, I'm just wondering if you got a mix of old and new FAB? The FAB I have bought from silly farm doesnt smell much different to any of the other paints I use.
In fact the worst smelling paint that I had was a 30 pallett sampler of Paradise, had to leave it open for a week or more, it totally stunk my house out. Its ok now or I've got used to it, Im not sure LOL!

Re: Superstar Paint Scents?
I think you're right, Dex. It looks like the ones with the sticker on top of the pot are the older style, and they're scented. The newer ones in the clear-topped pots are pretty much neutral, except for the gold having that very, very faintly appetising smell that makes me want to eat it.
I'll resist, don't worry.
Never used Paradise, but I hate the idea of a really strongly-scented paint!

Re: Superstar Paint Scents?
I like the smell of Paradise... kind of like a sun tan lotion-y kind of scent...
Re: Superstar Paint Scents?
LOL. Pics when you paint him, Kammy!
Paradise is a very strong coconut smell. I hate coconut, but they're such lovely creamy paints for bases that I'm trying to get used to it! I've just bought some FAB shimmer and they're in a clear pot but with a black FAB sticker. They reek! I guess those are the old ones. Blah I've got the gold, bronze, copper and that mermaidy-green shimmer that is so beautiful.

Re: Superstar Paint Scents?
Don't tell me the mermaidy green FAB shimmer is beautiful. I already have an addiction to Superstar/FAB and only just put in my last order! You're NOT HELPING my bank account, here.
As for the Daddy-Kitten...oh yes. I will be posting photos. Everywhere I can before he realises what I've done and kills the internet router, actually.

Re: Superstar Paint Scents?
When I use snazaroo od eulenspiegel it was ok. (on my face or hand)
But when I only smell to kryolan colors - I sneeze and weep.
So never use it on my body.
