Facebook... do I need a fan page?

It's me again... the facebook paranoid who is still getting loads of requests from people that sort of squick me out. (if you've requested and been denied, it's not personal.. either I can't read/see information that tells me that you're a face painter on your page.. or, I got delete happy and hit it by mistake... MSG me and I'll friend you)

so... a helpful person (that I shan't name unless she posts here) has told me that I can't make my fan page images private, or, for "friends" only.

Do I really need a "fan" page?

Can I set up my page "Kat Underwood" as my business page and just use that? are there bells and whistles on the fan page that I absolutely must keep?
To be honest, I can't even remember how I came to having both of them... I blame late nights, intense pain, and strong medications for the creation of them.

It certainly would be nice to have just one page to keep up with. Plus my friends/family facebook page that I occasionally visit... *L*

Any suggestions (other than you're crazy, and stay away from the drugs)?

I'd rather that friends/acquaintances/whatever just have access to the images that I post...
