A blow to craft paint volunteers...
I got a call out of the blue from an events coordinator at the store chain that I mentioned last year that has used craft paints and employees to do face painting. Her niece attended a birthday I painted at on Monday and wanted me to come paint at a big event they were having Saturday. I was personally excited because I wanted to prove to them that it was better to have a professional there than to have store employees paint (I didn't tell her that...but that was my personal "win".)
I had planned on painting with Melissa but she was understanding and helped me get a substitute for her event so I was free to go. The weather was a little iffy but I still had a steady line and had about 50 people pay $2.00 for the face painting. I made a super quick board using mostly one-stroke and still got lots and lots of compliments on the painting and a couple of party possibles. The store gave me credit to use at the grocery store (which I agreed to earlier) and gave me the cash they had collected.
Best part though, and I was hoping this was going to happen, the coordinator sent my information to the other three stores throughout the county so I might be doing the same thing there.
Double win! More referrals, hopefully more jobs and a few less craft painted kids. Yay!

Congrats Denise! That sounds like a win-win situation, and I love that they are passing along your information to other stores.

You go girl! I love that the craft stores are learning the truth! Thank you!

That is so wonderful! That's what we all hope will happen. That the people wake up to quality face painting.
I would suggest to personally call the other store owners to introduce yourself, assuming the manager will call them. Squeaky wheel gets the oil as they say!
