4th of July rocks!!
Hey guys,
I had an awesome festival yesterday! I have never been so hot in my entire life... literally dripping sweat...but we did awesome! Here are a couple of things I learned:
At a hot festival, bring LOTS and LOTS of baby wipes. (for sunscreen). Also, baby wipes followed by a quick rub with a paper towel were the perfect prep for glitter tattoos. I started out the day SOOOOO frustrated with my glitter tattoos. The stencils WOULD NOT stick. I had a huge mess. I was frustrated. Everyone was sweating. Boo. Then, i decided to try a baby wipe, followed by a paper towel. Tada!! Alcohol didn't work how it needed to but that combo did.
Splurge for power at your booth. If you are outdoors under a canopy you have shade protection, but you get no breeze.. so it becomes hotter in there than outside in the sun! If I had had a fan going in there, I would have been a LOT happier. Also, we went a lot later than anticipated. It was too dark toward the end, and I really needed lights. Lesson learned. Next year!
Pay someone to do glitter tattoos. I waited too long to invite my neice to work with us, so I ended up with 2 painters who ALSO did glitter tattoos. Not a separate artist. I could have made a LOT more money if I had paid my neice per hour to be there and collected the glitter tattoo profits in addition to my own. Also... glitter and paints... not the best combination. I tried to keep them separate, but it's inevitable. lol.
All in all, I cleared about $85 per hour. I was there 12 1/2 hours. Good day!
Here is the face I did ALL DAY LONG. My 4th of July arty came to the rescue!
one more favorite. Only did one patriotic tiger, but the girls loved this "sparkle dust"
I did a lot of red white and blue tigers but didn't have a chance to take a picture.
