Snazaroo Paints?
Is Snazaroo a good buy for bases and then Wolfe for details? And does it lost long? I was thinking about investing in snaz when I do full faces like spider man and tigers etc
Re: Snazaroo Paints?
Snaz is okay for bases. I love their red for spiderman. I'm not a huge fan of the rest of their colors, but some people love it. If you're debating what to buy, try buying a small size of a few different kinds and then experimenting. The small size means you're not out a lot of $$ if you hate it and if you love it, you'll end up getting a larger size anyways once you go through the small one.
I like paradise and kryolan for bases. I do like wolfe white and wolfe black for details, though I also use paradise black for some details.

Thank you! Ive been buying bits and pieces of brands here and there lol My wolfe palettes are small so they wont go far with bases. I'll look into Paradise since they sell it in the forum shop
Re: Snazaroo Paints?
Well I've never worked with any other paint but Snazaroo and I do like most colors for bases. They do the job if you blend well, I do great when sponging it on, ive been told most of my faces look airbrushed. As far as my kit is going I have Snaz for bases, some tag splits & rainbow cakes, and some DFX black & white.
Re: Snazaroo Paints?
I cant wait to get my rainbow cakes they look so pretty! Amazon had a set of 6 Snazz 18 ml kit for $36 2 weeks ago and I didnt buy it now Im kicking myself because now its back up to $50 but When it goes back on sale I'll definitely grab them (:
Re: Snazaroo Paints?
The only thing about Snaz is that in the heat it turns to crap. I worked at an after school group before school let out and the kids could run around without they're face melting but if my paints were in the heat, forget about it! They turned to mush. So if you live in an EXTREMELY hot area I would hold out on Snaz, unless most of your gigs area indoors
That set of six for $36 is a good deal. Do you have a Michael's craft store where you live? They sell then there as well! But they are around $13 per set.
Although there is a new kit that is about $21 that comes with primary & pretty colors (like pink, purple, some shimmery colors) and glitter. Looks like a good deal

Re: Snazaroo Paints?
;( well there is always starblends. I haven't used them but people here seem to swear by them in heat & humidity.
Re: Snazaroo Paints?
you can still use the Snaz when it's mushy, just use less water. I only use Snaz because I've had reactions to some of the other paints (once bitten twice shy) and I can't stand the smell of Paradise.
Re: Snazaroo Paints?
I use a lot of snazaroo and love it, but I would recommend trying the paradise in the heat before you invest in a whole set. Snazaroo is great for bases but it doesnt work so well for trying to one stroke.

Where in Florida?
Re: Snazaroo Paints?
I am in Jacksonville real close to Orlando and my snaz does ok in the heat so far. The heat and any paint (except starblends) is going to present a learning curve with how much water you use. I am in a flea market and under the building so no direct sun but the heat is there still. I really like my Tags, DFX's and wolf paints but still use snaz also. I like keeping the snaz for practicing with since I am a compulsive (addicted to painting) painter I like to paint every day and play with designs.
Walmart.com has the snazaroo sets for $13.90 and several variety.

Just a shameless post, I've got 7 new (well, the cello is off but they've never touched a brush or water) snaz for sale in the swap shop. I just never ended up liking it.
