Painted at a Hawaian party! (with pics)
Hi, guys, I post this while recovering from a exhausting Friday-Saturday festival in my town. I was in the organizational group so I offered to paint at the hawaian party on Saturday night. I was pretty sure children would ask for the usual stuff but I wanted to be ready just in case they asked for some fast hawaian flowers or eyes designs. So I made a hibiscus stencil and a cake for a sunset background and another one for leaves (I have to work on my fast leaves, though). Thank goodness I did, almost every children wanted a hawaian design (I think Ionly did four or five Spideys and a few butterflies and masks). This is the practice I did with my stencil on my (cute) niece:
I painted tons of arms and faces with diferent designs from the same idea:
And I also did so many coloured flowers in pink, purple, orange,...
Well, no many butterflies and Spideys around me this weekend

Pilareta.. I love that little Hibiscus stencil too! did you cut it yourself??
Re: Painted at a Hawaian party! (with pics)
Thanks everyone for your kind words
Kat, I googled and printed the image I liked in three diferent sizes. Then hubby helped me to cut the stencils with an exacto knife (He heat it a little, I think). We didn't have any trasparency sheet or such so we used one of these thin plastic sheets that you use to separate (sorry, I don't know the English word for them). We even tried a X-Ray sheet but it was really hard to cut . We finally got three good stencils but we broke tons of them before we got the right ones (in fact, there is a side cut on the medium flower ) . Anyway, here's what we got:

Wow!! Those stencils are great... I'm trying to find some acetate sheets in order to make some stars and hearts stencils...

Will have to try making some stencils...you inspired me. The picture of the 3 little girls went into my inspiration folder for "quick girl designs". Very nice!

Thanks, Pat! I have a HUGE inspiration folder from pics from this forum so I'm flattered you liked mine

Love it. I've been doing the one stroke hibiscus but it never turns out right. Maybe I'll give stenciling a try.
Thanks for sharing your awesome work!!

hhhhmmmmm I am also an airbrush tattoo artist and have the "hard" plastic (not the sticky sticker kind) stencils for hibiscus flowers. Gonna have to give it a go now. Duh why didn't I think of using it before?

I have good results with laminating sheets, laminated without paper, than cut with a thing like a stencil burner, selfmade. Its a soldering iron (hope you know what i mean) I can switch the heat. With a little training, it works well.
Better for round edges than a knife.

That is awesome! For those wanting to make their own (I saw a couple comment on finding supplies) You can find blank stencil sheets at Walmart, Michael's and Hobby Lobby (or just about any craft store) then use an exacto knife, or I bought a stencil cutter at Hobby Lobby ($20-30, I think... but worth every dime)... Hope that helps!
Pilareta... Beautiful lines! You are so inventive!
