So, I put my name on a t shirt
I saw a you tube video doing this and thought I'd give it a try. It's done by making a stencil out of freezer paper, ironing it to your tee, and spraying with a bleach/water solution. There are a few more steps and a learning curve, but for the price it can't be beat. (the circles on the design came from the cardboard inside the shirt- make sure to use a flat piece if you do it!)
freezer paper - $4
sprayer w/fine mist- $1
2 t-shirts (from Micheal's)- 2 for $5

Re: So, I put my name on a t shirt
I use to make mine on the computer then reverse the image and use heat transfer paper..then press it on...
you can also print a picture that you painted put you name on there and print and press on
make sure that when you use words that you do a mirror image..so when pressing it on it will be the right way..if you do not mirror the image you wording will be backwards when printing

Thanks Misha, I wanted to put "FACE ARTIST" on my black apron, I did with the heat transfer paper and then I painted everything peeled off after washed I am going to try this idea.
Re: So, I put my name on a t shirt
Make sure you do a trial run! This was my 3rd attempt, lol. 1st try bled through the stencil and the 2nd was too light. Worth the effort though since it won't fade or peel off.
Good luck!

That is seriously a cool idea and affordable. Gonna have to watch that vid and do me some shirts for me and my "staff" (apprentice painter, and line manager).

Re: So, I put my name on a t shirt
Um, am I the only one who is concerned that bleach compromises the integrity of fabric? Seriously, it disintegrates it. I'd be the one whose shirt or apron will finally blow the hole during service. "Excuse me. I'm having a wardrobe malfunction. Pardon me while I go change shirts."
But that's just my luck.

Re: So, I put my name on a t shirt
i did notice it is a 50/50 solution so not straight bleach. but yeah it will still weaken the fabric.

Even a 50% sloution will damage the fabric.
I'm surprised people don't know this.

I know this but I feel the trade off for a couple shirts at this price is worth it. When they become compromised I will stop wearing them to work in.

Rinse it in cheap white vinegar & water after & it will remove the bleach residue
Re: So, I put my name on a t shirt
you can also paint the logo, I use acrylic and I got some spray on acrylic glitter paint and used it over the paint. This is just the front of my shirt I also did the back one is a unicorn the other is a pegasus, and made Glitter Tattoo shirts for hubby.
Re: So, I put my name on a t shirt
Shandi, if you paint on the fabric, don't you get sweat marks around the letters on a hot day? If not, that might be a good idea to try out...
I used to have a t-shirt that had a big printed logo on the back, and after a long drive on a hot day there was a wet line of about 1cm all around the logo... so much for arriving on a job looking clean and hygienic...

Re: So, I put my name on a t shirt
no..never had that happen and my hubby is a big in the sweat dept. We started packing extra shirts after doing a festival where it was really HOT and around 3:00 we changed and worked till 1:00 am we where there from 10:00 am till 2:00 am. We wear matching t's really makes the look very professional
Re: So, I put my name on a t shirt
Freezer paper has thin plastic coating on one side. When you iron it with the plastic side down it sticks to the fabric.
