Charge by Zombie or by the hour? LOL
I have never, never painted a zombie!, They freak me out. But...the time has come once again to put on my big girl pants, suck it up and get paintin! A photographer needs me to paint 3-5 zombies for a shoot this Summer. (I'll pin the number down for sure before quoting).
My hourly rate is $80. So I could tell her X amount of hours? I just am unsure how long they take and I would want them to look super cool if pics are to be taken! Or I could just charge X amount per zombie. New ground for me but I am excited to see if I can do it. I'm curious of how you artist handle your zombie situations. LOL
I saw the thread where Shannon has 3 level $25, $50, $100. This sounds like a pretty good idea but can I do a $100 zombie?????
By the way thank you to everyone who have posted their amazingly disgusting zombies on here! I am not short on inspiration for sure!!

Re: Charge by Zombie or by the hour? LOL
I'd say charge by hour.
I painted a troupe of burlesque dancers for a zombie pin-up calendar and I charged a pathetically low per-zombie rate and screwed myself over. If they end up being disorganized, or you're waiting around for people to show up... you should be compensated for your time!

I am not a zombie fan, either... I hate gore. I don't mind a zombie that is just dead looking with sunken eyes... but ya'll can keep the gore.
That being said, Jody, I can't believe you don't charge more per hour - you are so good that you should charge top dollar!!!!

If you are doing multiples at a single booking go for the hourly rate... as noted, you'll end up waiting while they fuss, etc. You want to get paid for your time.

I on the other hand love painting zombies, I can't believe you've gone this long without trying your hand at one. I have a funny feeling you are going to surprise yourself, I think you're going to rock at zombies! Good luck, sounds like alot of fun. I would also charge by the hour by the way.
Re: Charge by Zombie or by the hour? LOL
Bahahaha!!! Shannon, you should add comedienne to your resume!
I'm not a fan of gore at all either. In fact it bothered me to see my son painted as a regular old skull. I don't watch Zombie movies because they give me the heebie jeebies. BUT, my husband made me watch this video the other day that cracked me up and made me a little more comfortable with Zombie-kind - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4awVqRr1eCo&feature=youtu.be
I can't believe he didn't get shot.
Anywho...I can't wait to see what you come up with Jody, maybe I'll take a crack at them one of these days.

Ha Shannon! I'm stealing that joke. My niece & her husband are vegan.
My answer would have been Human Vegans, of course. They generally label themselves pretty clearly!
How do you find a vegan at a party?
Don't worry, she'll find you!
Sorry for hijacking. I couldn't resist!!!

Ahhh, the irony of this statement while viewing your avatar!

LOL, Becky you are such a smarty pants! LOL I know, I know, I like a good monster but I saw the movie Pet Cemetery when I was a kid and still see Pascout in my sleep at times!!! LOL Just kidding, I think it is the blood, rotting flesh, etc. that gets me. Maybe I will go for a Vegan Zombie like Shannon mentioned, I imagine they would ooze a green substance rather than blood and maybe have a few sprouts growing here and there?
Thanks for all of the input guys, I'm going with hourly. Miss Ronnie, I appreciate that compliment . I am really treading on strange waters for some in this area and $80 seems like the max at the moment. Maybe when it catches on, it is more and more thankfully, then I will raise.

Stacia, I just went back and watched the video clip, I laughed so hard I have tears running down my face! I haven't laughed that hard in a while. When the guy threw the ball at hi, then that one guy that climbed the chain fence, priceless.
Re: Charge by Zombie or by the hour? LOL
LMAO I know! I laughed pretty hard too...I think he really pulls it off with the noises he makes. I wish he would have showed his makeup first...that'd have been cool to see. I'm glad he didn't get shot, and I hope he didn't get beat too badly at the end.
Re: Charge by Zombie or by the hour? LOL
I have got to show that to my middle son when he gets home, he loves zombies but I am afraid he will try that stunt!!!
Re: Charge by Zombie or by the hour? LOL
I loved the guy that had to hold up his droopy pamts to run!
Re: Charge by Zombie or by the hour? LOL
OH MY HECK.. that video is so stinkin funny. I was laughing like a maniac when the guys at the end started chasing him.
Re: Charge by Zombie or by the hour? LOL
Wow that is very good!! I would be scared if he came after me! Lol
Re: Charge by Zombie or by the hour? LOL
Thank you guys so much, we had way to much fun doing this!
Ha ha Lisa, he does look just like his mama!

Re: Charge by Zombie or by the hour? LOL
Oh WOW! I am seriously scared of trying out zombies...literally...zombies give me nightmares. BUT, I won some zombie skin from the paint a thon and I'm gonna take it as a sign that I need to get over it and paint some gore. What kind of blood did you use on yours?
Re: Charge by Zombie or by the hour? LOL
LOL They scare me too. I would love to try that zombie skin out. I only used paint on this. The blood is Paradise red, sometimes I would darken it a bit with Paradise brown or black but it is mostly red.
