Mother Daughter Camp out was a face painting hit
We had a mother daughter camp out with our girl scouts this weekend. I took my purse size face painting kit and 2 rainbow cakes (paradise flash and a pastel one I made myself). I was exhausted by the time they were heading out for a hike and chose to skip it. But just before they left, I pulled out my paints to practice on me. The girls saw and begged to be painted, and promised to when they got back from hiking.
One of the girls didn't want to be painted at first because she had a very bad reaction the last time she had her face painted. But she was so fascinated with what I was doing and sat where she could watch everything I did. I ended up teaching her a few strokes simple design and explaining that I had very sensitive skin and I only bought quality face paints that my skin didn't react to. I offered to do a test patch on her arm and eventually she asked to be painted.
The best part is that most of the girls didn't know what they wanted and let me try out new designs. I got to perfect my phoenix mask and try out a design for a dragonfly mask and even a matching arm design for the dragonflies and several fairy mask designs.
And I now have a whole group of girls willing to let me practice on them since my own daughter doesn't want me painting her face. They were all so very happy and I didn't even have glitter or gems with me. I wish I had my camera, but hopefully the other moms will send me some of the photos that they took.
