Wait it is too easy to just say XX. Different paints react to different sponges and until you get to an experienced intermediate and advanced stage blending can stump many.

What is the paint and what is the sponge?

None the less - yes practice using less water. Keep blending on your leg until you have the feel of your paint and sponge down right.

Sponge can also make a difference.

I've always used Wolfe sponges, which are quite coarse and firm. I recently bought Fantasy World Wide sponges, and just from looking at them and touching them I can tell they're much softer, smoother, denser. I'm very excited to try them out this weekend!

Very true as well as what Loretta said about paints. I do know that when I started painting I used way to much water and didn't load sponge with enough paint. Got similar results to what she posted.

The neons ake a bit more "working" as well... gotta have enough water but really need to make sure you load your sponge good. I dab on the back of my hand to see if I've got the right amount on there, but too much water is probably the culprit. I spritz my sponge with a mister instead of dunking or dipping it.

I used a sponge that I bought from wow factor. And its the TAG neon rainbow cake. SOmetimes when i add less water its too dry and doesnt deposit to much color. i love the way your avatar looks cattsy it looks so smooth.

what I would say is keep the same amount of water BUT work the paint with it more before you go to their face. This is what I've found with Snazaroo and I know it's different from the others, but if you find you can't make it work with less water, then try for more paint by working the water into it more.

Yup, I'll second what the others said too, really work the sponge in the cake and it eventually comes together. You want good solid color on the sponge. I went to using a spritzer to wet my sponges cause I can really control how much water is on them. I spritz it a time or two and rub my thumb over it to "work" the water into the sponge, then I take it to my cake, and really work it in the paint.

My avatar was done with tag pearl yellow and orange, I looooove the way the tag pearls work up and blend.

I have that problem sometimes with neons, too. They need a LOT more working with the sponge. I spritz BOTH my sponge and the paint, and load a lot more vigorously. I do test on my hand, too, to make sure the paint is nice and saturated in the sponge. If you're in a rush, sponge the paint, then load again, then sponge again to get the opacity you want. Don't re-wet, just reload with the paint.

Love the tag neon rainbow cake, but my orange is empty. I'm trying to figure out if I can just stripe in a new orange! LOL

you can also go over the spottiness with a paint brush and touch things up a bit if you have to Smile
