My first homemade rainbow cakes, and a homemade butterfly brush!
Hey guys!
Okay, so when I first decided to get into face painting (like 3 weeks ago haha), I bought the Silly Farm Wonder Palette, and thought I was being super smart and frugal, getting 2 colors in 1 disc. Pff! Needless to say, I bought a Wolfe palette, and don't use the Wonder Palette much. So today I decided to cut them up and make my own rainbow cakes!! I was apprehensive, but OMIGOSH, it was SO much fun!!!! These are tiny, but I can't wait to start making some money, and be able to do these with full discs!
The two on the far right are sort of throw-aways. I'll eventually turn the green/white into a leaf cake. The dark green on the far right is worthless, so until I get more paint to make a cake, it'll just hang out there.
Swatches!
Once I made the butterfly brush, and got it wet, the bristles immediately separated. I was sad, thinking it would ruin the wing-effect, but it actually turned out very pretty!
Thanks for looking, guys!

Fun! Fun!
You know you have the makings of a leaf cake right there, you could just switch the white with the dark green, or make a cake with the dark & light greens and some white?

Thanks!
Yeah, I had written it up there - the dark green is totally worthless It just does NOT flow on the skin at all, it's just awful!! I'm hoping to get a dark green from somewhere else to make it work, tho!

I started with the Wonder Pallet too...two of them and quickly found I didn't like the paint at all. Some of the colors were just weird. It's funny that I started making split cakes with mine also.
I use it occasionally as a traveling kit. I put white and black in two of the containers and saved my favorite splits.
I actually think they are a great idea I just don't like the paints they used for them.

Exactly! Weird is a good word. They work fine for some things, and make pretty decent splits (tho the light purple doesn't seem to show up too well), but I don't think I would have ever ordered it if I had done enough research first!

Yeah, Vi and and her painting friend did a whole series on Youtube about trying to use the Wonder Pallet and had some of the same problems. Mine was the red and the green like you have that really caused me problems. I'd like to know what brand so I never buy it.

It just SillyFarm brand! It actually took my awhile to figure that out - the receipt didn't list the brand name.
I actually emailed SillyFarm about the palette, because it was so awful, and never heard back from them.

Say no to the Wonder Pallet
Well, they use different kinds of paints in the pallets like Krylon and Paradise but they don't publish which brands are which colors. I feel for you. It was a lot of money wasted, especially when I was just starting out. At least I think I made up the money I spent but stopped using them after I got my TAG.

Oh!!! I didn't realize that! Jeez, I wish I'd known
Well, I just invested in a whole bunch of DFX and Tag to flesh out my stash, so I'm hoping that palette will just become a thing of the past.

About the butterfly brush, just wiggle it a bit while you are applying it and it fills in the blank spots. I would probably also flip it over because right now your bottom wings look bigger than your top wings.

Oh, thanks Perry! That makes sense.
