Upsell Challenge got me thinking - paper flowers

The upsell challenge and the recent discussion of hair extensions got me thinking. I was thinking it would be cute for those sugar skull designs to have flowers to put behind the ears. Mainly because I like making the flowers when things get stressful.
But with having a PPF face event Saturday, and having bought some pastel tissue paper for my daughter to use for a gift for a birthday party on Saturday, I started using the extras to make pastel tissue paper flowers. I was thinking of offering the flowers as freebies with face painting or as upsell items this weekend.

I am not sure they would ever be sold for an amount that would make it worth my time. But it seems like they might make for nice party favors if I already have them on hand. And making them for a Day of the Dead event seems like it would be lots of fun.
I usually participate in a gallery show for the Day of the Dead here in Dallas each year. Considering how popular costuming was for the show opening this last year, I am now thinking of talking with the gallery manager about having me face paint for this year's show.

So I have decided that these monthly challenges are so very cool. Not just for motivating me to come up with my own designs, but also getting my brain to thinking about other ways of approaching marketing or new folks to approach about having me face paint at their events.

These pics were from my first time facepainting. I added facepainting to my flower business.

I love those headbands. I might need to actually go buy some tissue paper just for making flowers with now.

It's labor intensive....the halos on wire take an hour or more each. Small single flowers shouldn't take too long though.

Thanks for sharing those, Debra. I used to make the big tissue paper flowers when I worked at Wonderland (theme park, now closed) in Sydney in the early 1990s. I think we sold them for $5 each.

I have Princesses and Pirates to thank for sending me off on a tutu tangent, lol! I have arranged a photo shoot with some cute kids next week so I can show them off and start selling them online, as well as at the markets.
But now I'm going to have another look at your display again - save it to my inspire file.

I saw a bunch of people selling pipe cleaner crowns w/ flowers & ribbons at a festival. They were all making a killing & I was thinking of adding it to my booth.

Hmm. I have pipe cleaners... and lots of fabric flowers (well, they are all poinsettias from old Christmas decor... but they are still flowers...)... will have to see what I can make!

They mostly used small flowers (think Ren Fair designs:-)

After I saw this post I was at Joann's and saw a damaged package flower kit down to $1.25 from $8.00 and I got it. Want to make some for my grandbaby...fun stuff. I think that is a GREAT upsell item.

OH NO, what are you people doing to me? My tutu and princess/pirate accessories are a big hit, now these!!! I can't stop myself!
