Anyone here cross into make up?
I've noticed when I'm painting, I get comments like "Oh, you should do make up", can't say it wouldn't be interesting to try something new! So does anyone here do make up as well as faces? Is there any differences? Do you prefer one over the other?
Re: Anyone here cross into make up?
yes. I have been a makeup artist for 7 years. I do love it. but when i found facepainting, I fell in love. Maybe because now i am a stay at home mommy and my girls love it. =) But i still love doing make up but i dont do it as much as before. I do it on myself but thats it.

Re: Anyone here cross into make up?
I am a makeup artist aswell, but I love facepaint more I think, although sometimes makeup is easier.
Re: Anyone here cross into make up?
I am not a make-up artist but need to learn. I am helping with a photo shoot soon and the style is Company Make-Up like in the Hunger Games. I have no idea how to achieve that smooth pale look without making them look dead! LOL
Re: Anyone here cross into make up?
I am a make up artist too, but I have to say I love facepainting more. When I'm off to a make up job I have nerves like you can't imagine. But for facepainting I'm just excited. You can't dissapoint the kids, they love everything!

Re: Anyone here cross into make up?
I know Shannon Fennell does theatre makeup. Be careful though with makeup, you might need to be a licensed cosmetician in your area to do that kind of thing. I know it seems odd that we don't need anything to be face painters but need a license to do something that we all generally do on our own faces for someone else, but that's the way it is.
Re: Anyone here cross into make up?
I started as a make up artist, cosmeticians licenses used to be a simple thing to get, more like a state registration. Cosmotolgy requires education and certification, that may have changed.
Re: Anyone here cross into make up?
I am a full service make-up artist - I do everything. I am trained, passed my union exams (IATSE) and have done everything from movies, television news anchors, theatre (over 75 productions), weddings, photography, sfx, etc. etc.
I got into face and body painting professionally when we moved up here from Vancouver as there wasn't much in the way of film/tv, etc. work. And I LOVE it! I still do lots of theatre, weddings, work with photographers, etc. but the majority of my work is FP & BP.
It isn't the same... sure, products can cross over and you can apply products with the same tools, but IMO it is a lot different. I love making people look good and different, but FP/BP is way more creative and satisfying to me. Well, SFX work can be pretty fun too!

I do makeup and face painting, my style is more dramatic so they both go hand in hand for me
Re: Anyone here cross into make up?
yep, I've done make up for various events but only recently was paid to do my first TV commercial shoot - was so nervous but actually had a lot of fun.
There's talk of a movie being produced up here this summer and me being key for that too (just a local production company, no famous names...as yet...)

Re: Anyone here cross into make up?
I'm actually a Makeup Artist first and face painter comes second. I've been a makeup artist for a few years and just decided last year to try my hand at face painting. Makeup definitely comes more natural and face painting is taking awhile to really learn!

Re: Anyone here cross into make up?
I love facepainting, but am a disaster when it comes to make-up.
Isn't that weird?
Just can't seem to find nice colours and apply them correctly.

Visited my Makeup school of choice and if I can swing the $ will be starting in June- just basic estheticians course, but legal to do makeup, which I amready have years of experience with in theatre.
