Advice/Tips please! I'm thinking of doing my first festival in a month. Any words of wisdom you'd like to share?

That's a pretty broad spectrum question.
Have you introduced yourself to the forum? If not, welcome to our home. You'll find a lot of useful information pertaining to festivals in the archives, just punch run your inquiry through the search function and I'm sure you'll find all you need to know. Again...welcome to FPF.

Thanks! I've been lurking for a while so I've read a lot of it. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips that maybe might be helpful for a newbie such as myself - something you wish you were told. Very Happy

I think this forum is chocked full of "wish I badge known" posts and "how to do it better" threads. Dig and he shall find. Good luck with your festival!

Isn't there a PM feature on here?..... Idea

Stinat, I've done shows and Beauty Show Conventions, so I may have some helpful info from working for them and on my own doing glitter tattoos .

But let me share something really fast. I know sometimes the same questions are asked from time to time on this forum and people will say "search the forum". Well, as helpful as that answer is, times change so fast so maybe the same question asked on this forum (let's say 6 months ago) may have new answers now.. Maybe since then, a new product or trend has come out since the same question was previously asked by another user. From reading these answers, topics such as this one gives us newbies wonderful first impressions of those who have been on this forum longer! Very Happy

Stinat, I'm also doing glitter tats soon. I would say your question does have answers, so hopefully I can help. I work trade shows doing glitter tattoos for salon professionals. I would say plan on bringing enough stencils to do 20 tats/hour as a general idea. I would not have loose stencils anywhere, always show the positive image to customers so they can see what they look like finished. Don't give anyone access to your stencils, they will get EVERYWHERE. Organize them alphabetically in a plastic file case, tackle boxes, or even buy baseball card organizers and have a display of your tattoos (the positive image). Know what colors you may need to refill on, although glitter goes a long way. Never forget to prep the skin before the tattoo. Have someone help you with crowd control if possible. Bring money to make change. A lint roller helps remove any stubborn glitter that still wants to stick around on surrounding areas, especially if glitter gets stuck in between anyone's boobs. It does happen! Apply the glitter after you remove the stencil if you don't already.... hmmm... wear glitter tattoos all over yourself! I give a few (like 3) FREE glitter tattoos during setup to neighboring vendors so that they can drive business my way and in exchange, I will tell them I will display some of their business cards at my booth to promote their business. I usually give them the bigger tattoos for free to push my largest designs that I LOVE doing. If there is a vendor that is in a booth that will get lots of sunshine or lighting, I love doing one for them because glitter tats look best blinging in the sunshine. Bring lots of bottled water because you can get dehydrated without realizing and its so hard to take breaks. Wear a side bag or small waist pouch for money, never leave a cash box hanging around. Never bring your purse to an event and shove it under a table that has a tablecloth, its so sad but people aren't trustworthy. I heard one time someone was talking to the vendor and at the same time had someone jack her purse from under the table, but she followed them and said "sorry my purse was not for sale". (they were young teenagers)

There is a PM feature on here - click on the poster's name and it will give you the options....

It is a very broad and open ended question asking about doing a first festival with Glitter Tattoos - what do you know and what don't you know? what are you looking for (more) info on?

Questions/answers I could infer from the original post:
How do I find a festival?
How do I know it is a good festival?
What would be a good price for a stall?
Where do I find a tent? do I need a tent?
Do I need a table? what would be the best?
Should I stand or sit? should the person I am tattooing?
How do I organize my supplies?
What supplies do I need?
What do I need besides glitter tattoo supplies? (mirror etc etc)
Which glue is best? which applicator?
What colours of glitter are popular? what about mica?
Should I use stencils? or what about freehand?
Which stencils should I get? (brand and type)
How many stencils should I get (variety)?
How many of each of a design should I show?
How do I organize my stencils?
How do I display them to sell them?
What price should I put on them?
How long should it take me to apply each one?
Tricks for applying stencils?
Tricks for applying glue?
Any tricks for applying glitter? any way that works better? removing excess?
Business cards, promotion, after sales marketing for parties etc

And that is just my first run through of quick thoughts - if you've been reading for a bit you will have read a lot of what has been posted on it - there are various opinions and ideas, but some general trends. I think most of us post our "oops" here, as well as our terrific new ideas (or finds of organizational tools and displays). If you have questions or problems I'm sure someone can help solve - there is such a variety of knowledge here. Open ended questions though tend to go unanswered though as I imagine no one knows where to start....

Are you saying that people should take their conversation to a private PM? As a new user and not the owner OR a moderator of the forum you really don't have a right to tell people where they should take their conversations.

But let me share something really fast. I know sometimes the same questions are asked from time to time on this forum and people will say "search the forum". Telling people to search the forum IS helping them. Some don't know about that feature and well... Seeing the same questions over and over for years some times gets a little annoying. People generally like to help on this forum but we also want people to do a little work in finding some things out for themselves before asking questions. Or try WORKING on some designs before asking everyone to just hand over their designs... The typical.. "Help, I have a job that I am not ready for and I need to see all of your designs" topics used to not bother me at all... after years of being on here and seeing people just try to take everyone else's hard work without trying things out themselves first is annoying.
